Hi,

Some advice please..

From my satellite digibox, I have connected the RF2 to a distribution box in the loft which then passes the signal to 4 rooms around the house. three rooms work fine with the satellite remote. But the kitchen TV eye doesn't work, the picture is perfect. The cable run is about 15 metres, and I can't figure out why this isn't working. I have checked all the cables and the connectors and they look fine to me. I must be missing something....

Thanks

stupid question, did you put a dc bypass in line before all of the connections.?

does the kitchen eye work if you swap it's cable to one of the other ports on the splitter?

There is no dc bypass. I have tried the other ports and I still get the picture but the tv eye still doesn't work, I have swapped the TV eye's around just to make sure it isn't faulty. I just can't understand how I get the perfect picture and the eye doesn't work.

you might be better off on the sky forums.. they probably get this all the time..

try putting the 2 ends together at the amp, the input and output to the kitchen..

then try unplugging the cable from the tv in the kitchen.. and see if the remote changes channels then..

it mentions something about "dc decoupling" on the sites selling the eyes..

Hi,

Have you enabled the power output on your box to power the magic eye device?

I think the option is in the sky istaller menu

(Press 'Services' on the Sky remote, then type 4 0 1 and press 'Select')

Then i think its under RF outlets , then RF Power supply needs to be on.

Becareful with the other options in these menus though as you could cause problems with your installation!

Hope this helps a bit.

Does the LED Light on the kitchen magic eye - this proves you have th 9v feed to it.

the most common problem with magic eyes not working is if your wall outlet is isolated ie stops the voltage carrying through to the tv.

Contact Sky customer services they will help you, I suspect as post above that some form of isolation has occured on the leg feeding the kitchen.

I found soldering the centre pin on the coax connectors (plugs) made the contact far more reliable.

Have you tried this, if the red led isn't illuminated that may be why.

the OP has 3 other rooms working with the magic eyes.. so i'd say the voltage is on..

it may be that the cable used is of a higher resistance than recomended for that leg.. ( 100 ohm instead of 50 ohm or whatever.. )

Just cause the power is on, doesn't mean it is reaching the eye - due to dodgy connectors etc.

I was answering afswit on that one..

and not all magic eyes have power led's on them.. depends on the make he bought..

i had this problem a while ago. literally pulling my hair out checking everything again and again, until i took the eye back to the shop and found it wa a duff one
