How? You’d bought your one-way tickets hadn’t you? IIRC you were waiting for one of your kids to take exams (when the whole country wasn’t taking them) and I also remember you saying he'd turned down a place at either Oxford or Cambridge because he had decidied to study abroad. They're not made anywhere now.

John Browning was American, and he started the design but died before it was finished, and it was taken over by FN who are, as you say Belgian (and now own the Browning Arms Company. And Winchester).

Fun fact - FN is now publicly owned - I wonder how many American fans of Browning and Winchester know that they are owned by a European state?
