How was that clip evidence of him being impressive?but you must admit that bloke is impressive?
Here is the analysis that you should have done:
1) he says only 50% of Drs in foundation years have jobs in place. The reason is because there are not enough speciality training places due to lack of funding in Primary care trusts.
The question you should be asking is: how would Reform fund it given their policy is massive funding cuts.
2) he uses Drs as the example of how w could use British citizens if above is solved
The question you should be asking is: why has he framed it with Drs….there is a crisis in social care and there are shortages in various clinical roles including nursing
To fill those roles with British citizens would require far more getting trained….and that’s only going to happen if University grants are available as an incentive……how would Reform pay for that.
3) He uses the old trope of “health tourism” It’s not actually true, people coming here on visas have to pay an NHS surcharge of £1035 per year.
There is some “health tourism” as anybody pretty much can get emergency care. I dare say it could be made chargeable but how much would the admin cost?
Zia Yusuf was doing what Reform do: sell simple solutions to complex problems, sure he sounded plausible but once you follow the actual practical trail his arguments fall apart like a suit bought at poundstretcher
