if i am having a room plasterboarded(on to brick), which is the better option..?

Either have the wall dot and dabbed or use battons and screw the plasterboard on timber battons on the wall?, oh and ive gone and brought 9.5 mm plasterboard for the walls (got kitchen and bathroom to do, will this be ok as opposed to 12.5mm ?

definitely d&d. 9.5 should be ok, but be sure not to skimp on the dab.

the only time battening would be more beneficial was if you needed to fit foil backed (duplex) boards or needed to include insulation behind the boards.
