irregular internal archway / doorway

I have a through lounge with an archway connecting the two rooms. I intend on putting internal doors to the archway. The problem lies in that there is an irregular decorative cast fitted to the archway. At its highest the archway is 6ft 6". Is there any way of fitting bespoke doors to the archway & if so would it be at a great cost? Or would i have to demolish the cast / frame to the archway, which may lead to fitting a lintel?? .... All help ideas appreciated.

I would say you already have a lintel or the wall is not load bearing . It's not very often internal walls have arched brickwork to span a gap . What age is the house ?

The house is circa 1920's, 3 bed terrace. It has artex to the ceiling and coves to the ceiling. I'm just trying to figure out the easiest way to fit doors to the arch. Weather to knock it through to square the opening off, thus requiring additional carpentry, plasterwork etc etc, or if it would be cheaper & easier to maybe fit some sort of custom doors??

I would say it would be cheaper to do the building work and fit some standard doors .

What would you envisage the bulding works to consist of? I have laminate flooring through the lounge, the skirting would need to be altered, breaking out the Artex may meen that the ceilings and coves need plastering, i'm pretty new to all this so just want to minimise trades & try & cut costs

I assumed you would be doing the work yourself .
If it's what i am thinking then the arch part will be added to a square opening . If this is the case you should be able to carefully remove the arch and fit a frame with doors without having to alter the sides . Openings are normally made a standard size give or take a bit so you should be able to juggle timber and door sizes about to fit standard doors in there and hide gaps or chipped plaster with architraves . Having said that you probably have a non standard opening because i have said it should be ok

How wide is the opening ?

I am at work at present and have not done a detailed measure. But hopefully if the opening is standard, what you are saying is that a joiner should be capable of removing the archway and replacing it with some sort of standard door frame and doors? If this is the case is it a straightforward job for a carpenter/joiner???
