The first problem I noticed with the smoking ban tonight was, now that all the ashtrays have been removed there is nowhere to put empty crisp packets, torn up beer mats etc.

Oh and its cold stood outside too

the biggest problem with the smoking ban is you notice how bad the pub smells when its not full of smokers

News just in....

One of my subbies was stopped at 7.45 this morning because he was driving to work in his own van smoking a fag. How very dare he!!!!

He was asked if the van was registered to him, whether or not he had any employees and after answering the nice policeman's questions, he had his keys confiscated while PC PC trotted back to his car to check up on his "story".

After returning his keys, my subbie was reminded by PC PC that should his van ever be driven by an employee/associate/colleague, or used to convey an employee/associate/colleague he could be subjected to a £2500 fine.

I can't even get into rant mode on this one, I'm too stunned.

What we need is a new law applicable to the police.

"Wasting the PUBLIC's time"

Unbelievable.

that's curious.

Trying to make a point, perhasp?

If he stood by any of the traffic lights in my small town he could have a full-time job stopping drivers chatting on their mobile phones as they drive along.

smokers you know you are doing something which can kill.... but you ignore it.
YOU... choose to ignore it.
Ever seen someone having an asthma attack Toffee, triggered by strong perfume? Asthma attacks can kill the sufferer.

I sometimes wonder whether coppers have bets running on who's going to be first to book someone under new legislation.

The way Craig explained it to me, if it had been a works van he'd have been fined - surely that's not the case, I thought it was all to do with public enclosed spaces???!!!

I don't get it.

No, you can't smoke in a company vehicle that might be used by other employee, regardless of whether or not they smoke.

And a good thing too. Foul habit.

 :!: :!: :!:

So where does that leave me if I'm giving one of my subbies a lift to a job?

softus... yes.... I am brittle at the minute, its a woman thing and I cant help it! but sorry for being snappy.

Woodyou like, yes I have seen several attacks and it is terrifying.

So is peanut allergy and so are other allergic reactions that can kill.

Still, not the same.

I do not believe that people go out thinking I will wear strong perfume today and due to that fact I will be knowingly killing myself and knowingly killing other people.

Smokers know it.

The Cafe next to our shop has today put out a table and chairs for people to smoke at. This cafe was renowned for people smoking in, a smokers den if you like. Nobody ever eats in there, just drinking tea and smoking. Dingy little hell hole. So now all the smoke drifts into our shop when people sit outside at the cafe, and it stinks. What can I do? :( Our door sticks open most of the time.

Most of our customers stink of one thing or another, the whole village is a miserable little hell hole, stuck in the past, but the most offensive smell, IMO, is those who come in reeking of fags in the middle of the day. They dont even know they smell because they've lost their sense of smell.

Positive Pressure ventilation.
Not sure what you mean. Anyway, heres how it goes, the front door gets left open. The doorway to the upstairs warehouse gets left open. The 14 inch turbo fans in the upstairs warehouse draw air up through the shop and out the back wall. REVERSE!!!!!!! lol

I think the solution is to stop the front door sticking open, but how to adjust it . . . doors and windows here i come. :)

Check how far the smokers are away from your doors / ventilation, less than 5 metres and you can make them desist.
