pump problem?

about every couple of months the pump on my vented system doesn't pump.
So I undo the chrome screw and then turn the inside screw with a screwdriver to free it.
The other thing that I notice is that there is a thin arc of water coming from within the centre of the inside screw.
I thought that there was supposed to just be a trickle of water with the chrome nut removed?
Otherwise the pump works fine, no noise etc.

Does the sometimes sticking pump and excess water coming out mean that the pump is about to expire?

Thanks in advance

The sticking thing does yes, it will just get more regular and annoying.

Ok ollski, thanks for that
But what about the water, roughly how much should come out with the chrome screw removed-more than a trickle?

There is no simple answer!

Circulating Pumps ( Myson ) hardly any water or air!

Wilo can be a lot! 2-3 li/min even.

Grunfoss can vary from hardly any to lots!

If the pump sticks its usually because its got dirt in the system. A new one may go the same way a few weeks later.

Thanks for the info Tony, sounds like I should drain + flush the system.
