Hi there, i am a qualified electrician but i dont have my 2391, i am obtaining this within the next few months. My question is do you have to have part P to test and issue periodic inspection reports on domestic dwellings or can you do this without being registered as part p???

You have to be competant to Inspect, Test and Certify.
This has nothing to do with Part P (although you will need to be competant to fill in your test sheets for the LABC)

Cheers for that i am more than confident to test and certify as i have been doing this for my company for a few years . but wasn't sure wether or not part p came into this if i wanted to do privates. thank you for responding. what do you mean by LABC?

Sparky23, forgive me for having my pedantic head on.

You are NOT competent to inspect test and certify, by dint of the fact that you had to ask the question/s you asked

Most 'qualified' electricans are a long way short of being competent to inspect, test and certify.

ER dingbat what has a question about part p got to do with being competant to test and inspect or not. I know that i am so dont be so rude as to judge me from a question. if you have nothing else better to do than just say useless things then don't bother.

Not understanding what legislation does or does not govern the carrying out of periodic inspections is a major shortfall in your knowledge, if this is what you want to do. It's like asking whether or not you need a driving licence if you wish to drive.

I wasn't being rude at all; I was being entirely serious. Your questions indicate a lack of knowledge, required by EAWR 1988 Regulation 16, as part of the test of your competence.

You are totally missing the point of the question. As i test for a company at the moment and i have done for 3 years, i give the test sheet to my superior and he deals with the paper work side and i was confused whether or not part p come into this at any point. This does not relate AT ALL to whether i am competent or not to test a property.

So if you were saying was right, that because i didn't know that i was not competent, but now i do,does it make me more of a competent person??? absolute crap!!!
