I use AutoCAD LT its around a grand I believe and its not even the full version! Its not cheap but its designed for the professional user in mind not someone knocking out an extension once in a while. Architects take 7 years to qualify, name another profession that takes as long to qualify yet doesn't have wages far in excess of architects? Doctors, solicitors for example train for less time and earn considerably more.

Have you tried IMSI TurboCad Professional 14 ? Its more than half the price of AutoCad LT 2008.
