Hi

I have an asbestos shed in my garden, I want to get rid of it, any ideas on the cheapest method?

Regards

Yes, take it to your local tip.

After you've soaked it through with a hose and dismantled it wearing a mask.

You should call in an asbestos contractor, who will be licensed to remove it.
It will be irresponsible of you to do it your self, as it would be a danger if fine asbestos threads became airborne, how do you protect your neighbours....?

This stuff kills, many years down the line.

Don't be daft - it's not bird flu. Take it to the tip as already suggested.

This is tripe put about by vested interests. Though they must be right as everybody (except me) will die or is already dead.

If this stuff was such a killer, all the people over 45 should be dead as vehicle brake pads used asbestos. Every time you apply the brakes you grind a bit more to dust, and spread it all around.

Never mind, there is always the chance to relax with a cigarette and some alcohol. Oops, they are even better at killing. Where are the licensed disposal teams?

I suggest you read up on the correct method of asbestos removal, before posting nonsense.

IMPEX.... please read up about asbestos and get it disposed of safely.

Did one the other week. Gloves, mask, disposable overalls. Soak it inside and out with a hosepipe, carefully dismantle. Double wrap it with 1000 gauge polythene and gaffa tape. The council came and collected it for free. Was only a small shed mind, and they only collect small amounts, a larger one will cost ya!

Do not use a hosepipe as advised

I disagree, obviously a pressure washer is out of the question, but a normal hose with a gentle flow should be used to get everything wet.

Their point about washing fibres off is daft, if it's that old then the surrounding area with be full of fibres anyway, as pelting rain or hail will do worse than a hose.

This wasn't clear from my post, but I was talking about a disposal team for the alcohol and tobacco industries. However, you took part of a comment out of context.
