I am have been a member (or at least I used to be) for a while and I must ask this question

what is the point of ARGI??

what is the point of £orgi?
what do £orgi do for you?
how much do £orgi charge you to work legally?
how many prosecutions have £orgi seen through to the end?
how many illegals have they prosecuted?

just a few questions for you to mull over   if you can answer them then you may see the point of argi. argi is a lone voice in a corrupt industry which has gone downhill since £orgi registration became mandatory,,and before any starts on about £orgi bashing you are wrong we need a register of competant GAS INSTALLERS that is not open to abuse the way the current set up is,it is known as a monopoly and the people who hold that register have abused there position for too long now

nd still do.

Ok but that doesnt answer my question what is the point of ARGI

as they have done nowt to take the yappy buuugers to task over your great points.

:)

Thanks for the replies lads, so I'm not the only one.
corgiman, as far as I am concerned the point of argi is to give gas installers from all over the country a chance to know each other and speak louder when speaking together, simple as that. Be fair they have only been going for a short few years and it is all done by lads like yourself giving up their spare time, they're doing a pretty good job with no resources.

The new site IS working pretty well and there are a lot of people already on there. The form-filling is not really a problem and I'm assured the archive data is safe.

Right Gents, hear we go,

I wont bother answering snipers.

As I am sure you will all be aware there is a new site set up along side the old site that we have all become very attatched to.

We all were supprised when the shutters went down on it. (a, good oppotunity for the disgruntled to snipe, emoticon)

dispite what has been posted by some self appointed experts the old sites presant condition is not attributable to what they say it is.

Any way the main thing is to get you lot back in, but why did no body write down my phone number, its been on the site long enough, also some of those spiping at argi have my phone number but obviously could not bring them selves to share it with the rest of you. ;)

Looking forward to seeing your happy smiling faces.

Tim

PS,

corgiman if you get your self to Installer live this time around, look out for those argi members attending the show and we can explain what argi is all about over a cup of tea or whilst chatting on the CORGI stand, you can spot the argi T-shirts from other side of the hall

Tim

ARGI run by gas installers 4 gas installers.

PPS Apologies to Mr Moderater if I am stepping out of line and my thanks to DIYNOT for the opotunity to post up the above info.

what is Argi doing you ask!
well if you had got to Installerlive and attended the meeting with £orgi you would know that we achieved a few things there and with constant effort being made by a few things will change for the better eventually.

it is also a very good way of installers working together to improve our knowledge of both what the dog is up to and how the industry is changing (not neccessarily for the better!)
so come on give the few hard working guys a break and come on over to the new site.

Thanks Kev Thats all I asked for and now I know :) nice to see the yappy pup getting its arris kicked, makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside it do

:)

Only thing it doesn`t ask for i my swiss bank account number, a lot of people like to remain anonymous so why do you need address etc , if you want proof of corgi whats up with id card number, but then again you allow ex corgi to register without numbers ..

found this a bit odd too, with only a hotmail account to contact to yet they require people to register with an isp email, really inspires confidence.

There's different areas for full members etc, the email helps with the checks, and also can be used for news items etc.

Argi is still growing and mistakes will be made, in fact our members can constantly be seen crying on Gasnews when they don't get their own way.

If you don't try it you'll never know, and we have a super workshop for when you get stuck solving a problem.

We also have a training program where we do deals with the manufacturers and some are even free like the recent Viessmann visit and included overnight accomadation.

psssst even Argile had some of that

Come off it Tim. You may have have been kept in the dark but others certainly knew the old site was going to self-destruct at midnight on 31st August. Why do you think the new site was rushed in with so little notice?

Personally I see little point in having yet another organisation that calls us members yet fails to involve those "members" in any decision making processes. "Just fill in the form, there's a good chap, but don't start asking awkward questions about what happened to the old site...."

I can assure you Chris we had no idea then or now what has caused the crash, it sure as hell wasn't intended, in fact quite the opposite.
