Hi.
I pulled up my 3 year old hardwood floors in my kitchen. I left the ply-wood sub-floor on the concrete slab. I layed down 1/4 concrete backerboard. I then used a "self Leveling" product from Quickrete, jus to be sure it was level. :( The problem is it made it unlevel

So my ??? is a three parter.
1. Can I just use more thin-set in the few areas that are not level?
2. What would you recommend for a high quality self leveling product?
3. Which is a better product to use, premixed adhesive or mix it your self?
4. An last but not least, what brands are the best? : :)

Thanks so much,

A. What for? The adhesive can take care of it.

2. What would you recommend for a high quality self leveling product?
A. Not sure what you mean....

3. Which is a better product to use, premixed adhesive or mix it your self?
A. Pre-mixed. Consistent, easy, less mess, bit dearer.

4. An last but not least, what brands are the best?
A. You get what you pay for. Go for a big brand that you know.

1 Use a thickbed adhesive with large notch trowel this will give you more room for adjustment.

2 I use mapei self leveling compound, its a one part powder so no need to get proportions cprrect, make sute you mix the right amount of water otherwize if its too thick it won't flow and self level

3. You will really have to use a powdered adhesive if going for a thick bed, it will also set quicker, if you are using large format tiles make sure you use a large format adhesive

4. BAL or Ardex are good makes.
