I am afraid I am not that witty. I was chatting to someone the other day who mentioned Dewalt were now making a plunge saw, I cannot find any reference to it on interweb, wondered if anyone else out there had seen one, or knew what it was like.

"plunge"

is more of a motion than a type of saw as far as i know!!!

it just means to go straight down the nearest normal saw "description" to match is chopsaw

other saws that "plunge" are pull saw mitre saw cut off saw

you can also plunge with a jigsaw or recipricating saw

have you any idea what sort off saw they are talking about !!!!!!!
hand held or table mounted !!!

As in Festool plunge saw - or plunge cut saw to be exact. Circ saw with plunge action, runs on rail. If you have never used one, I very much recomend it. Staight as a bench saw, almost as good a cut , half the area needed.

They did about 6 or 7 years back. It was called the GKS68B and suffered from various ailments the chief being that it was engineered down to a price and the base was nowhere near rigid enough (stamped steel instead of cast ally). How do I know? I bought one.........

Needless to say it has since been withdrawn. Pity, because it had plenty of power and was braked.

It's a DWS520K They say its better than a festool and can also be used on its side for trimming doors.

Have a look at this thread on UKW
