I've used some MDF boards in the construction of shelving and cupboarding (is that a word?) in a pair of alcoves. I now need to fill the gap between boards, and boards and plaster. I'm worried that the moisture in deco caulk will get into the MDF. I've read that 2 part filler would be a good alternative, but - a) I got a lot to do (i.e. expensive) and - b) I need the elasticity in the caulk.

Would it be possible to paint the gaps with MDF primer and then fill after?

Any other suggestions gratefully received. Thanks

Yep...do that,....... two pack filler apart from being expensive wont stick to bare wood for long.

Caulking should not be used on raw wood anyway. Timber should always be primed first then apply the caulk. Joiners are the worst for doing this when they have fitted new skirtings and things thinking they are doing us a favour. left too long and it comes out like a peice of chewing gum !
