ford fiesta 1.3i

Hello i have just bought a ford fiesta LX 1.3i petrol Its an l reg (1994 i think). The problem is i just drove it from london to newcastle so was 65 70 all the way not slowing or stopping got to rounderabout at end of motor way and the streering whel seemed to shake and so did the car while braking but know. even when setting of the wheel moves from side to side on its own while your holding it then the fast you go the more stabel it seems to get. The wheels are on tightly i took them of this morning to check brake disks they dont seem to warped or at all the left one rub a little if you move it round with your hand this might be normal. but surely that should not make a massive affect on the steering im experincing. genral streering seems ok like standing still lock to lock seems fine.

Any help please before i take it to a garage and get ripped off

I would check the tyres, one might have gone out of shape.

aye,check the tyres first and wheel balancing but it does sound as if the discs may be warped

Discs don't warp, what does happen is they wear very slightly thick and thin, it only needs 0.0005" to get brake judder. Check that every thing is fastened on correctly and there is no wear around the caliper and front suspension area. Reading your origonal post I still think it's the tyres going out of shape.
