What adhesive to bolster self-adhesive vinyl tiles?

I have a tongue-and-groove bath surround that I want to cover with self-adhesive vinyl floor tiles matching those newly laid on the floor.

Is this a silly thing to do?

I tested it with two tiles and they adhered pretty well - even the one that I heated and used to turn a corner (radius about 2"). Heartened by this, I completed the whole-tile laying but one tile looks unhappy and a bit loose... I can replace it but am concerned that the underlying t&g might be a bit uneven and not allowing all the self-adhesive to grip properly. I would like to use some extra glue to make this tile safer when replaced. Any ideas?

I foresee that the tiles on the corner curve will be under some stress too. Any comments on the use of the hot-air gun I used to ease the curving. I think it helps the tiles to stick a bit better. Is this so??

All suggestions, especially those born of hard-won experience, will be gratefully received!

water based acrylic glue is best used for vinyl tiles.

Spread it on one surface leave it for 20 mins or so to go tacky then go for it.

I use this when laying amtico and carndean flooring. If you lived near me i would have given you some for nowt lad.

Thanks for the offer, Dad! :D I'm far too far away to take you up on it! Will said acrylic glue react OK with the existing self-adhesive stuff? Have you tried using it with s-ad vinyl tiles on a wall?

someome said to try the spray-on vinyl adhesive c/o B&Q. Anyone used it successfully?

nah listen here joe lad, :D

Sorry for the delay in answering you. ( I do work for a living you know) the water based acrylic stuff will stick any plastic, laminate, vinyl, to just about anything. Apart from ashphelt.

I have never used the spray contact adhesives so i cant really say yay or ney about them.

Listen to your dad and do the bwoody job right. Git yerself dewn tu local carpet shop and grab wana lads. give him a few shilling and i'm pretty shure he will be willing to give you a cupa of the said glue.

Appologies if you have already done job. Did the spray stuff work ?

A very late response but the research paid off...

Both acrilic and spray glue failed to hold the pre-glued vinyls to the wooden wall. So I bought an elcheapo B&Q B&D stapler and nailed the b....rds to the wall! Luckily the tiles are dark brownish so the nail heads don't show and won't when they rust. Uncomfortable solution but, hell, life's too short. Especially these days.
