Router Table

Having recently joined the Router owning ranks DW626 (see earlier thread) I've now seen the light.

I've now convinced my self I need a router table.

Any suggestions? What should I look out for? I'll be using it to fabricate window frames and kitchen door fronts initially.

I looked at the Trend Professional router table a few days ago. About 350 quid, and the dewalt will (99% sure) fit straight on. Looked like a decent table, though Im now looking at the Festool system, a bit more expensive, but their stuff cant be beaten in my opinion.

not overly acurate the weight of the router and the clamping sytem deflects the pressed steel table top although the length of the bench is ideal for longer bits of work with plenty of support

Nice table..

I used to watch this prog regularly. But it started to get on my nerves. The constant use of wood materials that were being used like: Cherry veneered oak from the Island of Katmandu and european Jacobian twisted knot pine with full grained wallnuts..

You get my drift...He constantly goes on about these tropical materials to use as back panels that you would never see in a common build...

I am a bit jelous of his tools though..

I've got the Trend chraftsman table works fine, but throw away the mitre slide, it's got too much play in it.

I have literally hundreads of doors on it using profile & scribe cutters as well as running lots of mouldings, raised panels etc.

You will find a fine height adjuster for your router essential to adjust the depth of cut unless you go for a routa-lift which is a bit pricy.

The other alternative is to make your own to take one of the readily available insert plates, keep an eye on the Wealden site they will describing how to do it soon.
