Gas point for cooker

Im doing my kitchen at the moment, and the cooker is going to be moving about 20cm to the left, away from the existing bayonet fitting for the gas. This will mean the gas pipe in its current location will be within a new base cabinet.

Do I need to have the gas pipe moved, or can I just leave it where it is, and run the hose from the cooker into the back of the new cupboard? Would this be against gas installation rules? How much do u reckon to get a plumber to move the pipe if necessary?

it must be moved.
expect to pay roughly £50 if it turns out that is all that is required.

Expect to be c***** off if you suggest the above price to whoever you call tomorrow. You're better off asking price from your gas fitter and not a DIY forum.

I'd find it pretty laughable if it was much more than that - it should only take an hour at the very most - cut one bit of pipe, add elbow, one straight bit, another elbow, plus the straight up to the bayonet fitting.....how hard can it be?

You clearly know all about it then so why ask?

Be sure to tell your installer then that he/she can ignore the bit about soundness testing before, dropping, discing & re-connecting meter, soundness testing again after completion, re-commissioning your cooker, re-lighting and checking your other gas appliances making a note of any visible defect, recording proper paperwork.

Also they should forget the 17.5% of it that would go to the VAT man, the 3rd or so to the HM Rev & Customs and whatever transport cost to get to you. And finally the one about them having to take responsibility thereafter as the last operative to work on your gas supply.

nixt...how about this scenario

Soundness test, pipework in place, soundness test, purge (cooker on, boiler on).

£50 cash in hand for less than 1 hours work no vat to tax thank you very much.

this does not sound to far fetched from some corgi i know
