I have the slab down and want to start laying the blocks to my shed, but i'm not sure if the dpc runs underneath the first course or do i lay it on top of the first course..any ideas ...thanks

the dpc must be at least 150mm above the ground level (2 courses) and should match/be level with the ht of the internal floor.

under these circumstances the dpc is normally under the 1st course.

Hi, Spoonse.
If the 'shed' is not habitable, (part of your house and to be used for sleeping/living in) then there is no need for a DPC.
If it is to be 1/2 brick thick wall, (one skin brickwork, stretcher bond)
then there is no point either.
If you want/would be happier with some form of DPC then use two/three course of engineering bricks from path, which constitutes a DPC

thanks fellas i'm going to use it as a games room so better put something there just to be safe, cheers

Hi, poonz,
In that case, then two course of class B engineering bricks with or without a plastic DPC laid on will do the job.
If your door opening(s) are at path level, (usual) then you can step the DPC down underneath the door cill.
good luck with the build.

a friend had a nightmare which always sticks in my mind - make sure any paths or parts of the surrounding garden don't fall towards the new build - particularly the door.

i know it's common sense but his feet got wet for quite a while.
