morning all,
I always read here for tips and did a lot of research before I began but its going wrong! We have just had our loft converted and I am painting new plaster (its dry, was done 3 weeks ago).
I have diluted Dulux trade matt paint and applied with short pile roller, but am having real problems both in terms of it being really hard work actually putting the paint on, and getting orange peel in places, and the paint taking stronger in other, also its taking ages!
I thought I had diluted the paint enough as I am getting quite a few drips on my sheet.
Do you think I need to water down more?? I thought I had roughly watered down by 25-30%...

What am I doing wrong?!
Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Sal

Use a longer pile sleeve Sal..short pile will take too long putting it on and youll have to keep rolling over the bits you have alrady done.

30%should be ok for vinyl matt..but if its pulling stick some more water in..sometimes I find a big brush just as good as a roller for the mist coat.

I have found that Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt has changed there formulation some how.

Me thinks they have made it thiner.

I say this cos on there Dulux Trade VInyl Matt 5 Litre tins/tub they explain that the Emulsion can be thinned down by 1 Part Water / 5 Part Emulsion.

This means that it can be only thinned down by at least 16.66 % at present.
