hotpoint wma22 w/mc will not rinse clothes

I own a hotpoint wma 22 wahing machine,up until the last few days it keeps stoping mid cycle when it comes to doing the rinse cycle??? I have done all the usual checks to ensure that everything is ok reg' water pipes/ out flow pipe are all ok & clear of any debris. so i was wondering if anybody could give me a few pointers as to what else to look for. the reason i'm seeking advice is because most service engineers are asking for £45 before they do anything to the m/c **** take

check the filter at the back poss blocked

Hi rocks1, I've had the back of the machine off but i'm not to sure where the filter is on it? I've had a look at the user manual & it dosn't make much cense to me? it says it's attached the sump pump outlet pipe am i guessing correctly. regads,mike.

its a big black rubber cup looking shape with a fat jubilee clip round it undo clip and pull down thats the filter ,anything in it

If the wma22 has the motor mounted at the top of the machine then stopping half way through a programme is an indication that the motor brushes need replacing
