I'm all for doing my bit for the environment. I noticed today whilst filling my car that next to the diesel was a nozzle described as "E30 Biodiesel" or somesuch. Looking at the price display it is the same price as normal diesel. Surprising.

So what exactly is E30 Biodiesel?

Does anyone here use it? Any feedback, good or bad?

(The nozzle said "warning, consult with car manufacturer before use" - which I'm about to do!)

DONT USE IT, its garbage you will find yea car spluttering away when your in low gear pulling off its crip.
 
Thats rubbish - 1000's of people use it with no probelm

Biodiesel has a % (5 ?) of biomass added to normal diesel.

I use veg oil poured into he tank with diesel - % differs over the year depending on how cold it is. I have not seen any biodiesel pumps anywhere near me

If you have a new car under warranty check that the manufacturer will allow use of alternative fuels. Some wont, but there is no actual problem with the fuel.

Incidentally, you are not actually helping the environment, and use of bio fuels actually has a greater environmental impact than traditional fuels.

I just use it for the cost - sodd the planet :evil:
 
Well i googles biodiesel morrisons and its called B30! Its 30% biodiesel (50% virgin 50% chip fat) and 70% normal diesel.

Citroen and Peugeot (who produce the same engines for the HDi ranges) say this fuel can be used with no problems with warranty or servicing.

The thing is, its slightly less MPG so theres not much point really is there? Not while its the same price, anyway. Come on chancellor, lets have biodiesel at £1 a litre max! You still got LPG at 50p a litre! :rolleyes:

E30 is 70% regular petrol 30% ethonol made from corn, sugar cane ,wheat and the like.
in canada we have E85 -85%ethonal 15% gas.
 
have yea seen those thingys you attach to your inlet tube to yea carrbretor its two magnet clamps which grip around the tube and yea so called git an extra 20 mile per gillon i stuck one on mi motorhome and to be honest i did see a difference but cant tell yea if i got an extra 20 because it only doers 20 to gillion in the first place.

No.

The rules changed last year, so that anyone can now make/and use 2500 litres of bio-fuel before they are required to declare it to HMC&E
 
Woody - Do you use SVO or WVO? I've been using SVO for about 8 years now, but due to the price, I'm going to have to swtich to WVO. Just wondered if you use WVO, is it worth the hassle?
 
I use SVO - its about 97p a litre from ASDA or MAKRO (diesel was about £1.32) last time I bought some.

I remember when it was 37p a litre from Aldi about 1 1/2 years ago

I don't really have the space, time or inclination to mess about with WVO, and don't know any reliable local suppliers.

I used "Bookers" cash and carry last and it was around £18 for 20ltrs. It was fine oil, 100% soya bean oil. Nice and thin for injector pump! :D
Now collecting waste oil and feel like a rich man with all my barrels!!
 
can some one please expalin why you should use bodiesel?

on mythbusters they gotsome chip fat, filtered the chips out, and but that in the car it ran perfectly.

also some one on here has a vehicle that runs on whate ever it was oil, and they also said it has a big notice saying this vehicle runs on chip fat (or something like that) but they also said they do have to pay duty on it.

so why bother with biodiesel when a diesel engine will run on what ever oil?

I should point out by what ever oil i cant remember if its vegetable oil or another oil
