hi there my sisters oven on the blink ,the fault is when you turn it on it heats for a while then turns off everthing inc clock after about 5 mins nad wont come back on for 30 mins to an hour ,my first thoughts were a themal cut out switch at fault so i have removed the top cover and found two switches ,one on the top of the oven and one abit lower down and ive tested continuety across both and one on lower down shows continuity and the other dont .would you say the one on top has gone or is one an open switch and the other a closed one or any other thoughts what it could please and thanks in advance

I'm not at home at the moment so doing a fair but of guessing on this.

The one on the rear will be the one that is closed circuit.
If you trace the wiring it will come from the live or neutral connection where the power cable attaches, and will go through the cut out to the clock.
This is the one that is failing.
The open circuit one on top will go closed circuit when the oven reaches a certain temperature and turn on the cooling fan.
 
that stat is not your problem the oven is ether overheating main stat u.s.
or the cooling fan is't working. off what you saye the overheat stat is working correct

The safety stat, as identified, may be at fault.
Or the element, or the circulation fan, or the cooling fan, or the thermostat, or even the timer itself.
Impossible to tell over the internet.
Cheapest item to try first would be the safety stat if the fault isn't obvious.
