Hi, Im have been trying to connect my lap top to my TV. I have a picture but only of the desktop screen. When I play any type of media etc I can only get the sound and not the picture. Please can anyone help.

Thanks in advance.

You could try and send the signal only to the TV via the Fn F8 (maybe different) button. You should only see the output on the TV and not on your laptop.

he just said he can see the desktop.

you'll need a codec as the laptop prob knows its goin out to the tv via the DVI or other cable.

sometimes it something to do with the avi number of lines.

I suggest dragging windows media player on to the TV screen if you are using split screen as Mediaplayer does apear on the LCD TV screen but does not dispisplay the any images although the sound track can be heared.

What graphics chip is in the lappy? You are having video overlay problems, common when using TV-Out.

Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family
Video BIOS: 1264
Current Graphics Mode: 1280 by 800 True Color (60 Hz)

Is this the grapghics chip??

The 945GM is your Intel graphics chip. Go to control panel>display>settings>advanced... and have a fiddle about with the settings. There may be a tv-out or overlay tab that will give you some ideas.

thanks to all. The problem is now solved. simple really just changed some settings in the display menu. :D
