If I were to replace the old fittings in my kitchen with modern ones (and did nothing else) would this be subject to notification under Part P?

I was under the impression that Part P only applied to fixed wiring, CU's etc and presumably back boxes but not the accessories themselves.

However another thread discussed fittings with date stamps.

Clarification requested

Thanks for that.

The schedule 3B would appear to suggest that you can change fittings and enclosures (which I assume means back boxes) without notification even if in a kitchen.

Why then do some manufacturers put date codes on the boxes and fittings?

To tell how old they are in years to come ?

To veto any attempt to return an item 3 years post warranty ?

Just part & parcel of normal QA & product tracking - mainly in case of problems that may need a recall. They aren't in league with LABC to make Building Regs evasion harder.... :D

I think I'm just naturally suspicious :)

Just because you're not paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you.
