Anyone using these? need a decent one for piloting and countersinking, wastes too much time changing bits all the time!

Spotted this on the bay:

The Trend site sell the countersink and drill bit separately however this sells the whole thing. One question, I can't tell from that is if the drill bit is part of the hex shaft? if so brilliant, if not then I'm worried that the small hex nut securing the drill bit will come loose over time. I'm hoping the small nut is used to slide the countersink up and down to set your drill bit length?

Cheers

The pilot bit is not attached to the hex shaft, you can buy new pilot bits when it breaks, which they do fairly easily.

I prefer the Quad Drivers / Flip drivers from makita or dewalt.

Hmm thought it may be possibly like that, thats a shame. I have had a look at them flip drivers but I don't really need the flip side for it, I just want a dedicated countersinker with a hex shaft. Any other recommendations?

I have a couple of the trend TCT countersinks that take a normal drill bit thats clamped with a grub screw, never had a problem with them slipping and you get a true clearance hole in the top piece of wood as they take 4,5 & 6mm bits. they also keep their edge far better than the flip bits

The less costly solution is to use the hex recess twist drills that screwfix do (don't use toolstation version-rubbish) and a set of the clamp on countersinks or tct version from wealden

Cheers for that that, totally missed those hex drill bits might be an option.
