My son has upgraded his Orange mobile contract and given me his old handset, a Samsung SGH-D900. Am I able to unlock this handset so that I can use it on the O2 network as I have quite a lot of credit on my O2 sim.

You can unlock orange phones but they charge you for the privilege - was about £20 a year or two ago and it took them ages despite telling me it would only take a few days.

I think you'll have to get your son to phone them up though as I don't think you will be able to do it yourself - requires PIN and security questions etc...

there's a man in our street market who unlocks phones.

I think his name is Fagin.

Guys at my local market do it too, it's usually about a fiver. I've had a few done.

Thanks for that. I will have to go into town one Saturday to get it done on the market.

Where in Essex are you because almost certainly not far from location of weekly car boot sale.

Most have a stall there where phones can be unlocked.

i and the missus have got the samsung d600 and both required unlocking to take the sims we had,i bought an unlocking gadget from ebay so i can do it myself and a few others.

Just keep googling, you eventualy find the process and code........

Especially on older models.

There are also online companies that will do it very cheaply.
