I need to register with EGA? (I think )to be legally entitled to install boilers for those eligible for the warm front grant but how do I go about doing so?
I'm getting lots of info on how to apply for the grant-which I do not want.I want to install boilers in customers houses that are eligible for grant. Can anyone help?

I'd always been under the impression that eaga were so corrupt that individual installers don't get a look in. the installation work always goes to their own installation companies. Don't you also have to fit Ideal carp? to guarantee plenty of breakdown work for them.

I looked into this briefly some years ago and as far as I could tell it had all the hallmarks of a scam. Installing cheap boilers at high prices with the actual work carried out by subcontractors working for a contractor who get the work from another company and so on. Persistent rumours of kick backs and conflicts of interest.
Sorry, but you can not find a nice bit of work where you can offer a good product with a lot of subsidy to make it attractive for the punters

you can only be on the 300pound rebate scheme for people over 65 who don't qualify for the actual 2700pound full grant. i'm on the 300pound scheme and it is handy.

I went to fit a shower at a customers recently who had the grant for a new combi from these clowns.

Before the work she had a gas fire in the living room and a baxi back boiler. The old shower was a pumped triton from the hot water tank.

After the above mentioned company had finished installing their lovely new combi, they left the customer with a hugh hole where the back boiler used to be. they never installed a new fire, or told the customer they would leave it like this. they also isolated the shower and again never informed the customer that the shower would not work from a combi.

Her father is 91 and lives with her. after they went she had to have the old shower removed and i installed a new bar mixer, she also had tohave a new inset gas fire fitted to fill the hole in her chimney brest. all in all i think she spent around £1200 just to get the shower, and the fire back.

Not such a good deal afterall.

The quality of work performed by the company was disgusting. the new boiler was pluged into an extension cable pluged into the bedroom socket. She though that was how it should be as the fitter never returned to wire it up correctly. She called the installer back after i pointed this out.

Their excuse was that the Electrician was booked to return to correct this as soon as he was free. it was 5 weeks after installation that i fitted the shower. i believe the inspector came out to look and it took another 2 weeks before it was rectified.

Go to www.eagagroup.com/schemes/ewfheatingscheme and register. I`ve been on it for a few weeks. Problem is out of the £300 grant eaga keep £50 for admin so you only recieve £250 back. I`m honest with the customers and explain this. Everyone thinks £50 admin on just £300 is exessive. So do i!

My mother in law, recently had a new boiler fitted under this scheme, by a subsiduary company of ega. Talking to the installer, he was delighted to work for them(PAYE as far as I remember) & was making £35K+, which in this area is a hell of a wage for a tradesman.
