I've now checked all wires are correctly installed. The light nearest to the front door is working but no other lights after it are working downstairs. I've disconnected the yellow wire and there was no change. I've worked out the working light is controlled separately by two switches, the last...
I've pushed the neutrals in further and checked that both switch lives have power with my detector. One light works and the other does not. The living room and dining room lights are not working either.
I've just tried wiring it with switch live in light fitting live, all the blacks in neutral of light fitting and the reds wired into the connector block, two each side, and it's not working.
Yes you are right @RandomGrinch. I've just remembered that it was the plasterers that removed the old fittings hence no photo of how they were wired.
So all the red wires should be wired in live of the new fitting including the switched live? So that's 5 wires into one live terminal? Then all...
I'm changing a light pendant, one of two in the hallway controlled by a 3 way light switch, however the new one only has live, earth and neutral connections. I have three pairs of black and red, one black with a red sleeve and need help as to how to wire this new fitting. Thanks in advance.
Hoping for some advice. I have an early 90's house and have removed the old gas fire which had already had the gas pipe capped off by a gas safe professional. I removed the cast concrete fire surround and all the vermiculate and have installed a reinforced lintel to get the required 814mm...
I'm hoping someone can help as I have a first draft for plans for a single rear and double side extension. The rear extension is straightforward enough but I'm struggling with ideas for the double side extension plans due to the plot shape and space between the house and angled detached garage...
Thanks for the response. Is the wiring straightforward? Will the new smoke alarm have a diagram of what wire goes where? I assume as it's a replacement and not new install that I don't need to be Part P qualified?
I have old hard-wired smoke alarms and was wondering if there are any new ones that are compatible with the existing wiring adapter/harness. If not, is it possible to buy a wiring adapter?
Hoping for advice. I've used a wallpaper steamer to remove a border that has been up probably twenty odd year and it has caused patching when I've scraped the paper off. Please see photos. How can I rectify this?
Also, there is a strip of paper in the corners. What is this? How can I fix it?
