Screw fell out of uPVC butt hinge

Thanks. I had looked at it last night and convinced myself it had sheared off, as I can see that when I rotate the top of the pin there is no movement of the pin when viewing from below (my third picture). Therefore if the top pin wasn't connected to the bottom part I assumed this screw sheared off.

Screw fell out of uPVC butt hinge

I have a misaligned uPCV external door with butt hinges (not sure which manufacturer, but is 3D adjustment type). The bottom hinge is clearly out of alignment and recently a small screw fell out the bottom - my guess is that it has just worked loose over time. I have tried to push and screw...

    Water under flooring

I recently realized I can hear water sloshing around when I put pressure (IE walking) over the flooring near where the front porch meets the main house. House was built in 2015, floor is concrete base with layer of plywood then Amtico (decent quality sealed flooring) glued on top. The house...

Downstairs heating turning itself on, upstairs fine?

Thanks for the reply Ian. Given that the lever feels like it has normal resistance when the heating is off (obviously when it's running it slides easily), do you have any suggestion as to what the likely issue is or do you agree with the microswitch being the culprit?

Downstairs heating turning itself on, upstairs fine?

Spoke with a local guy who occasionally does homers and he also reckoned it was the synchron motor that needed replacing (reckoned about £60 for the motor and 20m job for someone who knows what they're doing). If that is the issue, I might be able to DIY it but if there's soldering involved I...

Downstairs heating turning itself on, upstairs fine?

One other thing I just noticed (could be unrelated) is that downstairs one or two of the rads are really hot (almost as if they were set to max and the rest are just warm (the TRVs are all set to the same level, 3 out of 5). This seems to have coincided with the CH not turning off downstairs...

Downstairs heating turning itself on, upstairs fine?

Just so I understand correctly, you suggest turning off the power, removing the Honeywell valve cover and manually moving the arm from Auto to Man and seeing if the microswitch actuates?

Downstairs heating turning itself on, upstairs fine?

Taking apart the valve is starting to get to the edge of how far I'm prepared to go before calling a professional. I put the programmer back on the wall (rads didn't turn on again while it was removed from the system) and it was able to correctly fire up the rads but after it was supposed to...

Downstairs heating turning itself on, upstairs fine?

I do, where would the microswitch be located?

Downstairs heating turning itself on, upstairs fine?

I tried moving the leaver when all zones were off and felt steady resistance (and some small noise which I assume is the port opening). When I let go it moved back into the auto position. I moved the other leavers to compare and they all had the same feeling of resistance. None of them really...

Downstairs heating turning itself on, upstairs fine?

Not checked yet, system and pump is running so don't want to manually open the valve while the pump is running. Will report back when the current cycle turns off (it's going to be a cold one tonight so at least need to heat the house up before I play with valves!). Additionally I waited till...

Downstairs heating turning itself on, upstairs fine?

The frost stat is set to the minimum temperature (and has been since the house was built 5 years ago so nothing has changed there). It's obviously very cold right now so it could be triggering the frost stat, but should that connect to the radiators? I've no idea how to check.

Downstairs heating turning itself on, upstairs fine?

I'm completely ignorant when it comes to these valves, should I move the arm to MAN and then back again a few times? Is there anything else that I could do to prove this is the issue as I would probably have to get a plumber in to replace it if that's the case. Also, I can deactivate the...

Downstairs heating turning itself on, upstairs fine?

I suppose it could be, any way to troubleshoot this to see if it really is causing the issue?

Downstairs heating turning itself on, upstairs fine?

Problem: Downstairs radiators keep coming on by themselves, even when thermostat/programmer would indicate CH either shouldn't be on at current temp/time or programmer is deactivated but CH still comes on. Upstairs rads function at the correct time/temp as per the programmer. Tried so far...

Best way to adjust butt hinge uPCV door

Nice thanks - assume the dots are the mid point on that 180 sweep so they can go 90 degrees either way?

Best way to adjust butt hinge uPCV door

Thanks, so when you say they only turn 180degrees you mean after 180 then they just start going back to their original position effect? Should I turn the compression screw or the ones in the side of the hinge or a combination? Should I be able to line it up with only the bottom hinge or is it...

Best way to adjust butt hinge uPCV door

My front door has ended up with a small gap at the bottom opposite the hinge side. It appears to be a butt-style hinge from Googling a bit. It looks like the bottom hinge has drifted out of alignment of the middle and top hinges creating this gap. I've mucked about but really have no idea what...

Unvented Indirect Tundish Discharge - What Reason?

Hello knowledgeable folks. I have an issue that occurred about a year ago and has come up again. I have a Santon Premier Indirect Unvented heating cylinder and when the heating system is running there appears to be water discharge from the tundish. This is not a constant discharge, because...

LED Light Fixture Has no Ground - Solution?

I appreciate the candid replies, I realize there are a lot of dodgy knock-offs. Dong Lian is a fairly well respected brand in China however, and it complies to their national standards. Whilst not as rigorous as our own, they are still considered "safe". Some of the ones I have do have a proper...
