    Remove trickle vents

Mhrv , PIV and airbricks all negate the need for trickle vents but have to be signed off by building control, and as far as i know as they are a recognised ventilation system then no need for vents in rooms with combustible appliances ( gas , log burners, rayburns etc ) BUT best check with...

Advice on fitment of bay windows

I see your point and fully understand but various building regulations have been quoted , If OP wishes to address the issue without spending any money then quoting said building regulations should be enough for the fitters to realise OP has done his research. I will admit , thinking more on it...

Advice on fitment of bay windows

There is no need to waste money on building surveyor. Crank and others ( myself included ) have already stated that the way the installation company are trying to rectify this mistake is completely wrong. Put basically, if they don't put baypoles direct onto concrete cill/ block work and put...

Advice on fitment of bay windows

Bay poles ,in your case I'm hoping they are load bearing, fix through the cill to the to the block work transferring the weight above to the existing wall , they should NOT be resting on the cill. I am at a loss to understand how they think they are going to ' slide ' that cill out and a new one...

Advice on fitment of bay windows

Advice on fitment of bay windows

They should have checked everything before removing it! But anyway no it's not acceptable to do it that way , for the very reasons you say. Also how are they stopping that new cill from moving off the block work??

Window wont close plastic worn through

You'll need a new set of hinges/friction stables if you mean that black bit at the top

    I dislike Trickle vents

Only 5000mm2 ea if other ventilation provide otherwise habitable rooms is 8000mm2 ea. As goes the plans , when were they passed and when did you start building? As planning only lasts for 3 years

    I dislike Trickle vents

BC should NOT being signing that off if you don't have a recognised ventilation ( whether tvs, piv, mhev or airbrick) . IF they do then they will have broken the very Building Regulations they are supposed to uphold and this would make a complete mockery of them. Personally I would check with...

New windows - dual trickle vents?

Personally I'd go for a wide outer frame at the top and see if I could get the manufacturer to put two in the outerframe or a bigger vent, Trickle vents are supposed to be as high as possible

    Astragal bars (aluminium)

Problem with ordering un fitted is astragal bars don't look right without the ' Duplex ' unit that divides the bigger unit to look like smaller units. And you can't have a Duplex unit without astragal bars. It's down to personal opinion... years ago I would have said avoid due to them falling...
