How can you do it to regs that don't exist? As there are no regs a switch does not have to be 350mm from a front door.

There is no requirement for a 3 pole or any isolator. But all new bathroom circuits require RCD protection.
Can you not move the lighting circuit...
It should never had been on a fused spur as a lighting circuit is fused at 6 amps anyway. Putting a 13a socket on a lighting circuit is bad...
I’m intrigued how a time switch which usually runs off a synchronous motor can run about 10% fast. I could see it running slow if it was gummed up...
Halogen lamps seem particularly prone to enormous currents on death. But halogen lamps are not supposed to be dimmed although many people do so....
There is a third choice. Repair the one you have. Most likely the triac is shorted. Triacs are cheap.
No safe zones to worry about in the ceiling. No need for 1.5mm cable for lights. Use 1.0mm, save money, save copper, and easier to handle.

A1 = 1
A2 = 2
B = Com
B1 = 1
B2 = 2 (unused).
That does seem to be a convention on building sites but is not a legal requirement. Apart from the colour the cable is identical to the blue stuff.
Really. Whole houses are run on smaller cable than that.
