Dampening / stabilising washing machine on 2nd floor

Just to clarify, the cardboard pieces are small folded (totally compressed) 'shims' under each of the feet (below the solid ply) to get the board level.

Dampening / stabilising washing machine on 2nd floor

How would you approach getting the floor level if screwing/glueing 18mm ply to a floor that may not be level? There is a thin layer of chipboard under which floorboards. These may also not be level! It's much easier to get the floor level and just slide the machine in, because once under a...

Dampening / stabilising washing machine on 2nd floor

My previous Bosch washing machine gave up after about 12 years, so I've bought a new one. This one seems to shake / wobble / vibrate a lot more. It's not 'walking' or banging, but I imagine it can't be good for either the washing machine or the floor. I have removed the transit bolts and plastic...

    Bath / Shower silicone questions

Looking at this again, I measured and one of the tiles along the side of the bath has a 6-7mm gap at the largest point. The other tile's (there are 2 longways) gap is about 4mm. The builders clearly didn't know how to cut large porcelain tiles, despite me explaining the requirement for a wet...

    Bath / Shower silicone questions

What do you do to prevent mould? Wipe down after every shower, regular spray with bleach / vinegar / borax? I do have an extractor installed, so maybe there were spores there already. Although I would have thought replastering before new fittings & tiles would have sorted that.

    Bath / Shower silicone questions

‍♂️ Ok, that does make sense. I have no idea what the beige silicone was. Maybe I can find out, but probably it's safer to just redo all of it. This means returning the white Unibond and deciding on a new grey silicone that will match the tiles. So, Dowsil 785+ or 785N? Apparently the Unibond in...

    Bath / Shower silicone questions

Thanks, the bath panel is caulked as well, so it's not easy to check the feet. I think the movement may have been something 'settling' as I don't see much movement when standing in the bath. I will avoid abrading Whether the bath is well installed - who knows? I really hope the new &...

    Bath / Shower silicone questions

About a year into a new bathroom, the silicone started peeling away from the bath and getting mouldy. It gradually detached along most of the length of the bath. I've put this off for a while but now decided to try and tackle this myself. The bath is Carronite (acrylic) so I wondered if maybe...

Gravity grille not opening when bathroom fan on

Thanks, but I have this manual. The instructions there are for the flat cosmetic front cover, not the main cover that contains the pcb

    Bath plug not closing fully

@undertrained yes the knob turns when the plug is pressed. The screw is tightened all the way, which brings it as low to the tub as possible. I am sure something is amiss with the cable since the builders spent all day cursing and trying to fix a leak from behind the bath tap pipes. They...

    Bath plug not closing fully

This kind of thing would not happen in Japan :) We accept **** design far too readily. In any case it worked before, and I always want to find out how things work and why they break. I will keep digging..

    Bath plug not closing fully

This one: https://www.soakology.co.uk/p/carron-apex-shower-bath/ The plug sits and seals fully only if I press down on it, but whatever happened to disturb the cable means with the screw all the way in, it still doesnt fully close from the handle. It did before, and felt very solid.

I've tried all of those. Pulling in every direction and from every side. I will contact Ventaxia and ask them..

    Bath plug not closing fully

Thanks, but it was working perfectly before, which means it has been broken or misaligned. And this is an expensive bath. Sticking a rubber plug in is not going to cut it.

    Bath plug not closing fully

This is a brand new installation. It is now screwed all the way to it shortest setting and still does not fully close, which means something else needs to be adjusted

    Bath plug not closing fully

After some repairs done (twice) to prevent leaks from the bath pipes, the bath plug no longer closes properly. It was working perfectly before the 2nd leak was fixed. There was a little extra 'play' on the turn so with very slight pressure you could make sure the plug was sealed. I informed...

Gravity grille not opening when bathroom fan on

The pcb settings I'm sure I would be able to figure out, or it's in the manual. But the cover doesn't want to budge. Unless it's designed to snap off with pressure, and in that case you need to be willing to risk breaking it. The screw is removed but it's not hinging or sliding. Rubbish design..

Gravity grille not opening when bathroom fan on

I managed to remove the flat cover, but can't find any info on how to remove the main front cover. These things are flimsy plastic so I don't want to force it and break anything. The manual doesn'r explain how to get the front cover off to access the pcb. Any ideas? I found a picture from...

Gravity grille not opening when bathroom fan on

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it's square. My neighbours downstairs have one of these and exactly what you described has happened to it. The flaps have blown off and ended up in the gutter. Cowl vent looks like a better design. At this point all I can do is switch off the electric and unscrew the...
