    Laminate flooring for bedroom

Totally agree, the last lot I used for a friends' house was "Hickory" from Wickes, awful stuff. Within a month it started to part, yet their "Aspiran" was great.

    Laminate flooring for bedroom

Hi everyone In the new year I'm ditching carpet for some decent laminate/engineered/real wood planks. Under the carpet instead of floor planks, we have large wooden sheets that squeak(house was built in the rain), so that'll be fun to fix.. Room is roughly 4m x 4m. I've previously laid...

    Lean-to shed/workshop (13ft x 8ft)

Hi all I'm currently speccing out a workshop-shed room that will attach to the side of my house. Measurements 13ft long, 8ft wide, 2.4m high with a pent roof. In terms of timber, I am thinking of treated 3x2 @ 450mm span for uprights. For the base, was thinking 9x3 @ 400mm, 18mm ply on top...

    Building Survey Template/Guides

Thankyou! This sample me to take a wander around the house and see if I've missed anything in preperation. I don't understand why someone would leave it to chance - some prep is better than put my feet up and do nothing approach

    Building Survey Template/Guides

Hi everyone I'm going to put my house on the market soon, and have been progressing through my original building survey report. The thought came to me, whether there are any templates or guides I can look at, progressing forward to ensure I have generally ticked anything else off before it goes...

Unsure how to fix this / or what with

Hi all Whilst we're not up to much at the moment, I've been given the job to maintain the soffits and guttering. As you can see, I've got something missing up the top, and am unsure how to fix it. I was thinking of running a thinner soffit under all the way up, and then some cement to fill in?

Bracing for Fink Truss (8m x 8m detached house)

Hi all I've been looking at my house survey, and I need to put in bracing for my roof as the two bars going across are inadequate, and I fully appreciate that, they look like they've been thrown up. My roof is a standard fink, spanning 8m length, 8m wide...

    Fixing Troublesome Battens Across Windows

Thanks matey, I have no idea what the thickness is of the RSJ, will the drill bit go through it like butter, or will it give a bit of a fight?

    Fixing Troublesome Battens Across Windows

Hi all I'm having a bit of difficulty putting up battens over my windows, to fix curtain poles to. The plaster is 1/4" thick, straight on to an 'unknown' metal RSJ. At the moment I can just about get half a rawl plug in, and just enough screw to hold it in place (2.5m battens, screws at 15cm...

    Masking Tape

Thanks matey - I've just done a longish skirting board using a short brush, reasonably happy with it but did think it'd be easier with longer bristles, much easier than i thought (for the first time), this is the one thing that lets me down, so certainly as you say, lots of practice is in order!

    Masking Tape

Afternoon everyone, this is an issue that has plagued my life for years, it's really frustrating as I don't know what I'm doing wrong When I'm applying masking tape to my walls to paint the skirting, I start to lay the tape down, but when I go re-adjust the tape it's pulling the backing colour...
