If the display shows s30 when it should be heating then it's your external controls at fault.

What does the boiler display show when it happens? Press the i button to see the boiler state.

Get a honeywell t3r, excellent bit of kit.

They would need a guard in the salt container to prevent the tablets escaping everywhere.

The issue with Harvey softeners is that they only take block salt which is expensive compared to tablets. A 25Kg bag of salt in my monarch lasts 3 months.

I live in an extremely hard water area so it didn't require any setting up.

My monarch softener drequired no setting up at all. Just plumb it in.

Monarch do excellent twin softeners, I bought one a couple of years ago, it uses a 25 kilo bag of salt every 3 months, it can also use salt blocks.

Do you ever hear it regen? I've got a monarch twin softener and regularly hear it run.

It's easy to disconnect the diverter valve to eliminate it first if you wish, have a good look at the PCB for scorch marks or blown components while you are there.

The pump is driven from the motherboard, turn off the power to the boiler and unplug the pump, then try again, doe the rcd trip?
