What have you been doing today?

Got my new credit card, and disposed of the old one. The time before last, after meticulously cutting it into little pieces, I realised I had been cutting up my new card by mistake, so I had to complete a little jigsaw and then tape it back together again  :ROFLMAO:

    Food Shop

I think over the last few years, a lot of brand names have become massive rip offs. The Maryland cookies are a good example. They used to cost a bit more than own brands, but they were still really cheap. Now they are three times the price. The same with Heinz soup at nearly £2 a tin. As regards...

The whole issue of brand name pricing seems to be getting more ridiculous and confusing. It feels like they're taking the p!ss in these straitened times. Goodfellas thin frozen pizzas are now £3 everywhere, which is insane enough. But at Asda, if you buy 4, it only costs £5.

I've noticed that as well. I rarely go to Lidl, as I'm closer to Aldi, so I haven't tried their choc chip cookies. I'm sure the Aldi ones taste exactly like Maryland, which are three times the price, so maybe they are made by the same company. Speaking of which, and recalling what @Mottie said...

The only brand name foods I really buy are Heinz ketchup and KitKats. I've tried lots of other ketchups, but they are either very flavoured or they are full of thickener. Anyway, a small glass bottle lasts me four months in the fridge. I only buy KitKats occasionally and haven't really looked...

What are you watching on TV right now?

A Few Good Men. For about the twentieth time. An all time fave.

So many price rises at Aldi, I've lost track. Of those I remember, one of my treats, the large tiramisu, has gone up from £1.89 to £2.49 in the past year. Scotch eggs have gone up a lot as well. Sainsburys frozen pepperoni pizza for £1 is still a bargain (if they actually have any in). It's the...

    What have you bought today?

A Morrisons milk chocolate bar, 100g, reduced from 89p to 50p. I think I've finally grown out of Galaxy and Dairy Milk and I felt like something different. It was really, really nice. Great taste and texture, not too milky or too sweet. No vegetable fat, just cocoa butter, so it's good quality...

I wish they'd take three in the surgery. I do have a home machine, the basic version of yours, but it's all over the place. Same with the one I borrowed to do a check.

I'm exactly the same. I seem to have reverse white coat syndrome.

UK failure to create post-Brexit chemical regulations risks ‘irreparable damage’

I'd like to know whether we had to leave the EU scheme, or whether we chose to leave. If we chose to, what were the supposed advantages of doing so.

What have you been doing today?

Just had my annual health check at the GP. I've skipped the last four, so I've no idea what to expect from the blood tests. Hope my Vitamin D is back to normal. I'd previously taken far too much supplement. Blood pressure really good, but I'm not sure I trust a single reading from one of those...

What have you been doing today?

When our car was still quite new, we were still getting it serviced by the main dealer. They noticed a leaky sump. Dealer wanted £600 for a new sump. Local guy fixed it for £15 (with a bigger plug I think) . Lesson learned! And we've stuck with the local guy for all our cars ever since.

What have you been doing today?

Not if they're employed by cheapskates who don't give them proper training or anyone to ask for support. That's the impression I got. That's really what my complaint boils down to.

What have you been doing today?

I felt I had to put a complaint in. I don't think I've ever complained about a service before. I've told them I'm not after anything, not even an apology. I've just kept it simple. Told them that I had to ring four times to get the correct info and that somebody who wasn't as persistent would...

    Immigration at a record level...

I've just been looking at the rules and it seems that it's only postgraduate students who can get visas for their dependants. It's limited to wife/partner and children under 18. They also have to show they have about £700 per month in savings available for each dependant, so over £6000 per...

What are you having for lunch?

A lovely ham sandwich with Dijon mustard. I panic bought eight jars in the autumn when there was a worldwide brown mustard seed shortage, but I've only managed to get through two so far. Wonder how well it lasts?

    Plod and the truth...

Isn't this just a case of two kids, d!cking about on a motorbike, playing games with the police and ending up under a bus. Very sad. But it's happened many, many times before.
