    Garage Piers, cracks/movement.

Thanks for the swift response Ken; I can sleep easy tonight. I will remove the two top blocks, clean them up and rebed them in. There is currently nothing on the top block. Is it worth my putting some sort of angle bracket or tie from the brick to the block to give it some strength. Can't...

    Garage Piers, cracks/movement.

Forgive me if I use the wrong terminology here; I have a detached single garage, 13 years old, single skin brick with a row of vertical 'breeze blocks' halfway down each long side. I'm assuming there are metal ties from the single brick to the breeze blocks, to strengthen the wall. My issue...

Wife and son painted decking with fence stain

Years a ago I spent an age and a small fortune treating my decking with the proper stuff for it to only last a year. Now I slap some fence paint on it in spring and again mid summer and it always looks good, only takes an hour to do and costs peanuts.

Bath Panel Woes (possible DIY disaster within)

Went through with cutting the bath. 6 hours later and I'm pleased with the result. (Looks worse in the pictures, you can't tell IRL) Couldn't have done it without a Dremel, anything else would have made a mess, and thanks for the heads up on the mask, definitely a messy job. Last few bits to...

Bath Panel Woes (possible DIY disaster within)

Right I'll get one ordered, will probably be a legally different 'rotory multi tool' but I'm sure they all do the same thing. Thanks to you and everyone else who contributed to the thread.

Bath Panel Woes (possible DIY disaster within)

Might be an excuse for a new tool then. What is about the Dremel tool you like for this type of job? I haven't used one before but I'm guessing they would be less aggressive with the cut? Would you use one of the thin cutting discs or any other bit/technique?

Bath Panel Woes (possible DIY disaster within)

I don't have a Dremel but I do have a multitool and an angle grinder. The angle grinder with a cutting disc might be ok but I do find it a bit unwieldy, and it's not got an adjustable speed setting. The multitool might be a bit more forgiving. I'll try and set up a guide somehow which should...

Bath Panel Woes (possible DIY disaster within)

The problem with doing that is that it also lifts the ends up, off the frame, the gap is also then too big at the ends. The bath is solidly fixed now, I think changing its position now will be problematic. Why do you say trimming the bath or panel is not an option? Or is it just not a good option?

Bath Panel Woes (possible DIY disaster within)

I have just found more info confirming the panel should sit flush with the lip.

Bath Panel Woes (possible DIY disaster within)

The bath, front panel and shower screen were bought as a package from plumbworld.co.uk. I think it was called Ceramica, however I have just Googled the number that's on the panel (wbb200) and it's come up with the Nuie brand. Attached should be a picture of the top corner of the panel and one...

Bath Panel Woes (possible DIY disaster within)

hmmm, i thought the outside of the panel was to sit flush with the bottom of the lip of the bath, are you saying that it sits inside the lip? the panel top has a right angle molding which sits inside some clips under the bath. would think it would look wierd with the bath overhanging the panel.

Bath Panel Woes (possible DIY disaster within)

So ive fitted a new bath, its a B shape shower bath, acylic. The supplied bath panel is 500mm so i built a frame on the 2 short sides and the long inside edge 500mm from the tiled floor for the bath to sit on, with the bath feet taking the weight on the middle. The floor is level. All is...

Bath feet. No screw holes to floor.

As above, the feet that have come with my bath have no holes so can't screw them to the floor. Shall I bin them and get some others or is it not necessary to screw them down?

No pipe to solvent weld. Internal coupler?

Thanks. Looks like I'm getting the multitool out and digging some floor away!

No pipe to solvent weld. Internal coupler?

I am replacing my bath however the new one sits lower so I need to reroute some pipework. I was hoping to just cut the fitting off and reweld some new on however there doesn't look like I will have enough pipe left. Is there such thing as an internal coupler? There would be 20mm left coming out...

Pressure relief valve leaking into tundish after test

I'm at work now so can't check, I want to say Ideal. The boiler is downstairs and the expansion tank and valve is upstairs. The rate of water coming out has reduced to a slow drip but someone is on their way out to look at it regardless. Many thanks.
