Best way to extend cable with is just entering a junction box?

There's definitely no slack when you grip onto it with pliers? Sometimes you get lucky. Any chance of accessing the floor above to run a new cable down?

    Wooden Floor Preparation for Tiling

I used the 6mm Hardie boards over my chipboard bathroom floor and has worked really well for me. I didn't glue them down, just used the screws. Tiled over the top with thick porcelain tiles and has been fine for 7 years or so. My only regret is not fitting underfloor heating. Insulation board...

What is this plastic pipe fitting?

Looks like a type of air admittance valve.

    Yet another nail gun question

I'd be concerned too that 2nd fix nails don't have enough hold for external cladding. For a large shed I built, I used short ring shank nails to secure it without a gun. 2.6mm diameter or thereabouts. If you've got a lot of framing to do then I wouldn't hesitate to get a 1st fix gun. I have the...

miele washer dryer wt2670 fan blows warm air continously once the machine is switched on and never stops.

Probably a stuck relay on a control board. If you can get access to it a few taps of a screwdriver might unstick it if that's the cause. Obviously I recommend doing this with appliance isolated from mains power.

Miele combi steam oven stops pumping to condensate tray

Good news, one less appliance in the scrap heap. I read somewhere that the pump can become a bit noisy if water is completely drained from it e.g. through lack of use or replacement. Maybe give it a few full cycles to see if it quietens down.

Hi, unfortunately the information I have isn't available as a document that can be shared/emailed :(.

Miele combi steam oven stops pumping to condensate tray

Hi, As far as I can tell there's no sensor that actually detects water in the condensate tray at all. I assume that since the electronics know when and how much water it has pumped into the oven and the fact it hasn't pumped water out (suspected float switch problem) it concludes the condensate...

Miele combi steam oven stops pumping to condensate tray

Hmm. Hopefully I've not sent you on a wild goose chase, keen to see this appliance saved from the tip :). Drain valve (Y26) The drain valve Y26 closes the hose under the steam generator. This ensures that water is retained in the steam generator. The drain valve consists of a release element...

Ideal Elise - or something similar?

I'll have a think about that - would definitely be the cheapest, but might not look too good? Cheers, Ben.

Ideal Elise - or something similar?

I take these comments on board - thanks. Unfortunately, I can't site the boiler in the garage because there is a large chunk of garden that separates it from the house. The loft is certainly an option though, will have to look into that one - I'm not ripping the entire house apart I wonder...

Ideal Elise - or something similar?

Hi, I'm in the process of specifying the bits and bobs required for a house refurbishment and am on the lookout for a replacement heat only boiler. This is to replace a rather decrepit Myson Apollo 30b fitted to an open vented pumped system. fitting a sealed system is out of scope for this...

    Magnet PVCu

Hi, This is my first post, so hello! I'm currently looking into a DIY refurbishment project and need to replace all windows - does anyone here have any positive/negative experience of the Magnet trade PVCu made to measure service? Can anyone comment on the overall quality of the windows...
