    Compatible guttering marshall tufflex

Hi just looking to replace two runs of 4m black half round guttering. Didn't realise compatiblity can be an issue with guttering. All my marshall tufflex clips are set good so reluctant to have to change and realign them. I brought two floplast hi cap runs but they are too big. Marshall seem...

    Hanging chandelier

Thanks Chivers, Trying to think what bit of 150mm x150mm timber to put in. It would only be a short stretch between the joists. Any recommendations for what timber to use? Also is it worth bolting the hanger through the joist , by drilling a small hole or would some simple wood screws be...

    Hanging chandelier

Hi just to update , moved some floorboards above and below the joists are Battons holding the plaster board up. I would have ended up supporting the new light via the Battons rather then the joists so glad to have checked. To support the light thinking of using 2 of these 150mm hangers between...

    Hanging chandelier

Thanks for the replies , the new light is the one still packaged. What you cannot see is the glass decor which hasn't been hanged on it yet as per picture which adds extra weight. 9kg is probs a slight overestimate as I am shortening the chain so likely 7-8kg but going to prepare for extra...

    Hanging chandelier

Thanks for the help John. I think I am going to take my time with this lift a few floorboards up. That way I know we are in the beam well and not going to clip any wires or pipes with a good visual from above. Although it will take a bit longer it will be a safer job and maybe save any...

    Hanging chandelier

Thanks for all the helpful thoughts. I think with some care I will try and find the centre of the beam. If I were to lift up the floor board , what would be the best way to attach the ceiling clip to the joist? Thanks

    Hanging chandelier

Hi there, I am planning to replace my current pendant light that is about 3kg with a new chandelier weighing about 9kg. I am happy with the wiring side of things. The current pendant seems to be installed around a beam on tapping the area. I was a bit reluctant to try installing it straight...

Attaching J channel for hollow soffit

Thanks for the good feedback. Finished capping it and looks great. Got the fascia left. Need to put some soffit vents in. Having capped it imagine I need to get some deeper soffit vents? Also are wasps prone to getting through the vents? Want to avoid any wasp nests. Thanks

Attaching J channel for hollow soffit

I am currently in the process of capping some fascia and soffit. The wood is all in good condition. I am attaching some J channel and going to slot some hollow soffit in vertically as picture. Screwing the J channel in it appears to have a few bits where it bows between the screws and I am...

    Relaying block paving

Hi any idea how much relaying some block paving should cost in the Nottingham area. The area has become a bit bumpy and wavy. Approx 13.5 m squared in total. Pic attached . Thanks

Felt lap vents tile up lift?

Hi there, yes installed these back in July. They have worked well and after a few days the air did feel cleaner in the loft. No issues with condensation that I was getting before. They have managed some major downpours and windy weather so would say they are a welcome addition. Will report if...

Pyronix V10 hybrid alarm battery change?

It's a wired bell, thanks for the answer. How many years do the SAB battery on a deltabell tend to go on for? Seems like I need to get those serviced soon!

Pyronix V10 hybrid alarm battery change?

Thanks it started chirping in the night so changed this morning with a 7amh and all hunky Dory. The alarm has been installed since late 2018 so the battery did well to last 3.5 years. On another note I'm wondering how long the batteries on the deltabell will last? When they start to get low...

Pyronix V10 hybrid alarm battery change?

Thanks for the reply. Interestingly the panel reads "battery ok" Have cleared the fault in engineer menu and the panel seems fault free for now. Is this due to the battery recharging in the panel?? Is this a thing? Or am I delaying the inevitable and should just put a 7amp in thanks.

Pyronix V10 hybrid alarm battery change?

Thanks for the replies. Out of interest why would you recommend a 7 amp over a 3.4 amp. Pyronix seem to have 3.4 amps as stock. What's the benefits of the 7amps? I also note all these batteries are rechargeable, do they trickle charge in the panel or can they be recharged? Many thanks,

Pyronix V10 hybrid alarm battery change?

Hi have a pyronix hybrid V10 alarm. Control panel is bleeping saying "control panel battery fault " I take it I need to change the battery , with the alarm in engineers mode? I have the engineers code? Is it as simple as simple as swapping the battery? Currently is a 12 v 3.4 amp battery...

    Crack to TV screen

Just an update managed to DIY the crack to the screen. On reading a TV has an led glass screen with a polarising film on top. It appears a little of my polarising film was scraped off. You can check it's the film by wearing some polaisring sun glasses and the crack was not visible. I found...

    Crack to TV screen

Good thought thanks. The TV was worth 600 new 3 years ago. The excess is about 300 so 300 pounds in it. I have read around and the fix is hopefully as simple as cutting and applying a £2 piece of polarising film over the white part. Will post if it works later in the week. :)
