    SWA on a fence

I was interested to see how this SWA was run to feed the supplies for caravans on a site I stayed on last week. I wonder how many regulations have been breached?

Accessible for inspection?, Pub Light Switch.....

That is accessible it will just leave a bit of wall missing. To be serious how does anyone plaster a wall and cover up part of a switch? I am not sure if I like plasterers. I remember when I was serving my time, I did a homer with a qualified spark. We did a first fix, loads of cables neatly...

Laying Electrics and water pipe for outbuilding

I've thought of doing this but is there a danger of the radiator freezing at night? I'm using electric heating at present but a radiator would be far better. I'd like the view of someone who has done this.

    What time switch.

I do like how sometimes on here a simple question leads to an intelligent discussion. I don’t miss BAS or Winston who would have hijacked this thread and posted irrelevant thoughts

    What time switch.

I'm stupid, the ones I fitted were non digital but I kept looking at digital ones.

    What time switch.

I’m struggling to find what I need because I don’t know what it is called. I want a time switch that has four terminals, or five if it needs an earth. 1 & 2 ----- Live and Neutral to drive the clock. 3 & 4 -----Two other terminals which are switched but totally separate from the power that...

    Laptop charging extension lead

I use an Asus laptop. It has a charger with a with 4.0*1.35 mm connector. I often go to meetings where the power supply is away from where I am sitting. I would like an extension lead, maybe 5m long, with a male 4.0*1.35 mm connector and a female 4.0*1.35 mm connector on the other end. I don’t...

Many years ago I was asked to go and fix a leak in some central heating. The house owner had started to nail down the upstairs floor boards. I remember thatI used all the fittings I had in my van and a fair about of microbore pipe. He had hit the pipes over 20 times. I still wonder why he...

    Paint hinges?

Thanks for all the replies. They all confirm my idea that hinges should not be painted. I'll use masking tape if needed but in general I'm OK at cutting in neatly.

Thanks, that was my feeling but I needed someone to tell me I was not wrong.

    Paint hinges?

I’m sure this is a really stupid question, but I need advice. We’ve just had new doors fitted in our flat. The doors are white primed, and I will paint them white. They have three hinges that are described as Satin stainless steel. The handles are chrome. What is the correct way to paint...

Maybe there need to be rules about where pipes run similar to the rules about where electricity cables run.

Thanks RandomGrinch I've now ordered some. It does help to know what they are called.

    Planter?

I've got a lot of these plastic pocket planter things and they are great for my strawberries. I've emptied some as it is time to replace the plants. I want to buy more of these contaners but don't have a clue what the correct name is. Can anyone tell me what they are called so I can search for...

    Timer switch

I've used that type and they usually work well. It looks as if there are only 4 pins, so you can have two on times set and two off times set each day.
