    Humax and ITVX

Thank you Lucid for all your help. I do understand all that you are saying (at last!) and think I will go for the Roku as you suggest. I feel happier now that I have an idea what I am talking about when I go to buy. Again, many thanks.

    Humax and ITVX

Thank you Lucid for your reply, there is nothing wrong with my present Humax so I would prefer to keep it and your suggestion of a streaming stick sounds ideal. I have been reading about them this morning and one article said if the Amazon stick was bought, I think it said I would have to log in...

    Humax and ITVX

I have a new LG smart TV 32" which I use with a Humax HDR-1100S freesat recorder bought in 2017. I could not get ITVX with the old 32" TV, nor can I get it with the new TV. I assume the ITVX isn't compatible with the old Humax but have no idea what to buy to get Freesat with a Humax recorder. I...

    LG TV Wall Bracket

I have an LG 24" TV and want to buy a bracket which swivels and tilts and have no idea what to buy. Can anyone advise the best, I am not keen on the scaffolding type, only want something fairly indiscreet. With the ones I have looked at it seems you have to undo fixings on the back to tilt etc...

    Fridge/freezer

I have a Lec fridge freezer, although old, it is working perfectly but the seals are splitting. Is it possible to have these replaced? I would like to repair if I can because the present fridge freezer is just 48" high and fits in a small space, I cannot find a replacement to fit at this height...

    Outside in Garden Wiring

flameport, thank you for your reply. I had looked at steel conduit but I just assumed it had to go underground. It will be going right next to paving and steel seems to be the best solution and not underground which will save me some work. Because of the logistics, it is not possible to have a...

    Outside in Garden Wiring

Thank you for your reply but I am not asking what wire to use. The unit already has the wiring attached as per the manufacturer, it only needs a three pin plug with 3 amp fuse to be fitted. I was asking what armoured conduit should be used to enclose the wire. Thank you.

    Outside in Garden Wiring

I am putting in a replacement pond filter which has a much longer cable and it will be about 4 metres away from the garden wall socket, (protected by a RCD Timeguard). The previous filter was in a different place not needing the long cable. I need to run the new cable under part of the garden...

    Removing broken tiles behind basin

Thank you, I can see the screws holding the basin underneath. They weren't removed because the plumber didn't think to do it, just went straight over them!

    Removing broken tiles behind basin

I have had a new basin fitted in my bathroom and it has left some areas around the basin needing new tiles. Some tiles were broken (which are now partly behind the new basin) and unfortunately these tiles were not removed before the basin was fitted. Can anyone advise the best way to remove the...

How to connect ethernet cables to two TVs

Thank you everyone for your replies. I have fitted the new ethernet cable from router to the TV with freeview and it works well. I am going to see if I can get round the issue of freesat to this TV with extra wiring rather than the wi fi socket. Thank you all for taking the time to respond, your...

How to connect ethernet cables to two TVs

Thank you both for your replies, I'll bet you're not as confused as me with all these wires! Yes, I meant the present ethernet wire is connected to the router, I can see there are spare network sockets at the back of the router so I will connect to one of them as you suggest. I just didn't know...

How to connect ethernet cables to two TVs

I have run an ethernet cable (under the floor) from my computer to a TV in another room to sometimes use catch up TV. This TV is connected to a satellite dish outside so I receive Freesat on that one. Can I run an extra ethernet cable from my computer to another TV, this TV is in the same room...

Electrical Safety Certificate for Rental House

Hi ericmark, I can quite understand all your frustrations mentioned. Not quite the same, my partner died 18 months ago and I have had to put up with his relatives not seen for 25 years preventing probate, dodgy solicitors just helping themselves to money from the estate and taking their time...

Electrical Safety Certificate for Rental House

Ericmark, Thank you for your comprehensive reply, for many years I was a C & G assessor and could only assess those levels lower than mine (alas not electrical!), so your comments all made sense. I realised the letting agents would take a cut, but didn't realise just how much and £228 is far...
