Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

I've been pinning the valves open before I attempt to bleed the system.

    Bathroom Fan Ductwork Noise

The ductwork is already well insulated with a rockwool and silver bubble-wrap coating. In the loft, where the fan and ductwork are, you can hardly hear it running. I'm guessing the majority of the noise is from the airflow hence the reason I was wondering if the silencer I linked to would...

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

The room stats don't send the call for heat to the boiler, they operate the motor on the valve unit. When it fully opens, contacts in there send the call for heat to the boiler and turn it on. Sorry fixitflav, didn't realise you were just a diy'er like me. Yeah, hopefully some of the pro's will...

    Bathroom Fan Ductwork Noise

Hi all. Rather then resurrect a 2yr old thread I created, I thought it better to ask another question re: ductwork noise. My bathroom ventilation consists of two separate inlets (one above shower, one above bath) connected via a swept "T", all in 125mm Rigid Ductwork and powered by a Manrose...

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

Hi fixitflav. Again, sorry for the late reply but it seems the powers that be may have sorted the forum access problem as I got on this time without all the "jumping through hoops" I've had to do of late so thanks to the administrators for that. (y) So, to the task in hand. :) In answer to...

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

I don't have any TRV's fitted as I have a thermostat in each room. I thought the idea of zone valves was to avoid the need for TRV's. Should I have fitted them also ? I know I'm not a pro but that seems to be a bit counter-intuitive to me, but then again I'm just a DIY'er . Sorry for...

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

Hi all, sorry for the delay in replying but I've been job searching ! No joy as of yet but hopefully some better news around the corner so to speak(y) Anyway, I looked through the boiler manual and found that the boiler had been set to constant maximum speed so I've adjusted it to variable and...

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

Just had a look at the Boiler instructions to see if it is something I'm allowed to alter and there are settings that I can change according to the booklet. I'll have a go at them and see if it makes any difference. Could this also help with the gurgling ?

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

No, as there was hardly any discernible pressure loss on the boiler gauge after checking the rads. It is working as it raises and lowers as the boiler heats and cools. Just a jet of water came out of the bleed valves instantly so they were only open for a second or so. I did turn the loop on...

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

The rads & altered pipework are only 3 years or so old and there are absolutely no leaks whatsoever anywhere so surely it's not going to be anything like that ? I knew I'd forget to give some details ! When I first changed the pipework and radiators from under the floor to the loft, I...

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

I have been having a right mare of a time trying to get rid of what I’m guessing is excess air in my CH system. I was hoping that it might miraculously clear itself after fitting a new radiator in my bathroom but I’ve had no luck with that. I can only presume that I must be doing summat wrong so...

    Sealing Parallel thread on Rad

Well, left the elbows attached to the rad for 24 hours before deciding to connect it into the rest of the system and I'm glad to say that there are no leaks at all and it's working fine :giggle: . Thanks again to all that offered their advice, it's really appreciated. Just need to try and...

    Sealing Parallel thread on Rad

I have been using the gas type tape as well. It's always worked for me in the past. These crappy elbows are the only tapered joint I've ever had a leak on and I'm not a pro.

    Sealing Parallel thread on Rad

So, bit of an update. Some good, some bad  . The thread seal worked perfectly so I'm well chuffed about that. Hopefully, it'll be just as successful on the rad elbows . The Ultraheat Elbows however, not so good :( put the joint together with a brass olive coz I'm using chrome...

    Sealing Parallel thread on Rad

I'm glad you said that Harry coz having never used it before (although I'd heard of it) and watching how it's applied etc on several youtube videos, I thought to myself it's time to either get the pros in or tell our lass we're having a different rad in the bathroom  I certainly wouldn't...

    Sealing Parallel thread on Rad

Thanks for the reply @oldbuffer it's appreciated and sorry for the late reply and thanks from me but got caught up in some other stuff which took me away from the bathroom rad. I'll report back once I've had a go at it with how successful I was - cheers.

    Sealing Parallel thread on Rad

I am only a diy'er but I've thought the same as well, why have to mess about with tapered threads and PTFE etc etc when there MUSt be a better way ? I just presumed that, with me being a diy'er, there must be a good engineering reason for it that I don't know ?

    Sealing Parallel thread on Rad

Thanks for the suggestion buddy but the rad is only a max of 3" off the wall and the inlets into it face out to the rear, hence the need for the elbows to turn the feed downwards towards the feed pipes. I can't turn the elbows outwards either coz of lack of space. I wouldn't want to trust PTFE...

    Sealing Parallel thread on Rad

H all, I've bought an Aeon Lunar Stainless Steel Radiator together with a pair of Ultraheat 90MFS Elbows (as the radiator feed pipes come from below) to fit in my Bathroom. However, I seem to have found a problem with attaching the elbows to the radiator in as such that the thread position makes...

Mira Flight Level 1800 x 800 Tray Bedding

Hi again guys. Sorry not to post an update, I got completely side-tracked with other jobs and forgot to let you know how I got on. Anyway, Mira eventually got back to me and confirmed that a cement bed would have to be used otherwise the guarantee would be void. I ended-up bodging a...
