Mold forming on brand new painted timber window sills

Thank you for your replies. It is not above a takeaway or restaurant, external extractor or anything like that. And I'm not sure how ventilation can be improved on an external window sill, however, it is this line of thinking which has led me to the answer. The sill is about 12.0m long, at...

Mold forming on brand new painted timber window sills

I painted some external window sills at 1st floor level only about 5 months ago. Black mold has formed across some large areas, we can't work out what has caused it. It's on a busy street so my best guess is, it's pollution. Has anyone come across this before? The blue thing is the shop sign...

    Connecting LED strip (picture included)

Thanks guys. After a search around Norfolk I found some of the 0.75mm2 coil. I've wired it all up and it works a treat. Much appreciated.

    Connecting LED strip (picture included)

I just want to test the strip light to see it's colour and test a few positions. So using the 2.5mm will just be for testing purposes until I can get some of the correct wires. I'm guessing it will be okay to use the 2.5 for testing?

    Connecting LED strip (picture included)

Thank you. Screwfix and Toolstation don't have any of that cable in stock, can I just strip down the 2.5 mm two-core-and-earth, and use those wires instead?

    Connecting LED strip (picture included)

Thank you. I bought the transformer and the strip light on-line, what cables do I need to go from the switch to the transformer please (they didn't send one)? Also, the cable that runs between the socket and the switch is 2.5 mm two-core-and-earth, I hope this is correct? Thank you.

Can I do this; run power from an existing double socket up into a one-way, one gang light switch. Then connect from the switch into the transformer, which then powers the LED strip? Thank you in advance.

    Flashing

Thanks for your reply. If the leak is down to the failed sealant along the seam of the roof and the wall, what would be the correct way to seal it?

    Flashing

Thanks for your reply. What if I flash band it, then see if that works. Using flashing tape is not the wrong thing to do, is it? Of course I will check out the window frame etc when I have access.

    Flashing

Water is making it's way through into the room below, and although I can't get close enough (because I don't want to climb on that roof), it looks like the silicone (or whatever type of sealant they've used) has probably failed along that aluminium roof edge (under the sill). And when I can get...

    Leak on pipe (with photos)

Do you think a DIY'er could do this, once I get a ladder up there and look inside?

    Leak on pipe (with photos)

Hi, There is a leak on this pipe (a fairly constant drip), can it be fixed with some sort of sealant around it and then keep an eye on it. Or does a new pipe need to be fitted, or even a new tank? Any help appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    New Combi

A local plumber has just installed a new combi boiler, new pipework and radiators for me. He didn't provide us with a thermostat, he just showed us how to turn the boiler on and off. Although he didn't specifically state that he would supply a thermostat in his quote (in fact his quote was...
