As you can see I have a 22mm gas pipe sticking out of the ground. Such is its height, and distance from the wall that I either need to cut a hole in the new kitchen cupboard to accommodate it, or get the pipe shortened. I imagine it could be done but would need a specialist to rethread it...

Cheers. I assumed that but then when I measured the waste pipe that I have at home that I know is 40mm, the outside diameter was 40.5mm, so it made me question it. Thanks.

Here is the picture of how the cistern overflow joined the sink waste for those who were curious: Also the sink waste has an external diameter of 34.7mm (measured with digital calipers), but the only available sizes to buy are 32mm and 40mm. Any idea what it could be?

Do you mean the bend from the back of the loo?

The cistern overflow connects to the sink waste, which then connects to the soil pipe. Where should the cistern overflow go?
