Yeah , it's definitely the waste bore . I'll file the trap down a bit . The waste was a decent branded one as well

    Mcalpine bath trap spigot size

Hi , has anybody come across issues with the spigot from a bath trap being too big so that it won't go into the bore of the bath waste ? Basically the spigot on my mcalpine trap measures 41 and the waste bore is 40 . I tried another anti vac mcalpine waste and that's the same . I know they seal...

    Stone resin shower tray seal

Thanks guys , I'm an engineer not a plumber so any advice is much appreciated . I was going to but some bits of timber under the Flexi to stop the sag but I get what you're saying about it . You can see where they have dressed the tray , it's just not that good of a job and unfortunately I'm...

    Stone resin shower tray seal

Hi , I've just done the first fix on my ensuite and have just taken delivery of a 1400 X 900 black resin shower tray . The tray came with a mcalpine waste and flexi adapter . The wastes in situ and I've got a fall of around 40 mm over 2m . My concern is the finish on the underside of...

    Plastic over copper ?

Hi I'm redoing our ensuite and it's mostly plumbed with grey 22 and 15 mm plastic pipe . I'm not a plumber I'm an engineer and I've always used copper and soldered it with no issues . The dilemma I'm having is do I do all the plumbing with plastic pipe or do I do what I'm used to and use a speed...

    Toilet direct into soil stack

Thanks mate , the drop from the horizontal pipe to the branch is around 30mm . I was hoping that the 2.5 Deg from 90 would help gain a bit of height going through the cavity etc then I could use an offset pan connection ? Or should I bite the bullet and cut the whole section out ?

    Toilet direct into soil stack

Thanks mate , I was worried about the height . There is virtually no fall on the horizontal run but I know what you mean , the stack has 4 wastes bossed into it and it's a bit if a mess . The uppers bossed section is now redundant as I e got rid of the wall hung sinks inside . I may be better...

    Toilet direct into soil stack

The branch seems quite close , I think I'll be able to get it to fit ,it's just that the socket will be inside the wall a bit . I just didn't know if this was best practice . Thanks

    Toilet direct into soil stack

Thanks , I was looking at exactly what you've shared in the link . My only concern is that the joint on the coupling would be inside the wall where my toilet pipe inserts into it . My hole through the cavity would have to be a bit bigger than standard if that makes sense ? Thanks

    Toilet direct into soil stack

Hi , I'm currently re doing our ensuite and need toove the toilet a few meters on the existing external wall . At the moment the soil waste exits the wall and there is a 90 Deg bend and this falls down into the stack . Where we want to move the toilet is literally dead in line with the...

    Basin waste into bath waste

    Basin waste into bath waste

Hi , I'm redoing our ensuite and I have had to strengthen all the joists with ply before even thinking about the plumbing side of things . The old waste pipes were located through 60mm holes drilled through every joist the whole length of the room .I have fixed the joist and now want to run my...

    Poor cold water flow

Hi , We have recently moved into a large property and have noticed that the cold water flow is poor . Our system is a pressurised cylinder with an expansion vessel and a system boiler . If the cold tap is running and you flush a toilet the tap almost stops . The hot tap has pretty decent...

    Sistering joists

That's exactly what they've done , crown down . There is a bit if spring hence why I suggested ply to stop it . I'd put strutting across the middle to stiffen it all up

    Sistering joists

Yeah , I thought that would be the case . I might phone my local authority and ask for advice ,maybe worth spending a bit of money . There's no way I could rip them out ,I'm looking at a repair really . Even running steel plates on the sides of each joist sound viable . Thanks for your input
