Can I wire in 12V transformer for LED strip at end of downlight chain?

Apologies - you are right - I was being lazy with my terminology when I drew that. So is the proposal in my diagram okay? My concern is mainly that the LED downlight chain is a switched live and so the 12V transformer does not have a neutral unless fed from the junction box.

Thanks very much. I can confirm that each downlight is earthed.

Can I wire in 12V transformer for LED strip at end of downlight chain?

Hi all, Is it possible to wire in a 12V transformer at the end of a LED downlight chain (downlights are all mains downlights- LAP CosmosEco from Screwfix). This is so I can wire in a LED strip for some lights to put above a bathroom mirror. My preference is to have the light switch turn all...

Moving a plug socket 2ft - bare wago in backbox?

The thought did occur to me. We are having fitted cupboards installed in the area where the old socket is. I would think it unlikely that I will ever need access to that socket again. That said, the carpenter said he can fit the socket plate flush with the cupboard interior so that I could have...

Moving a plug socket 2ft - bare wago in backbox?

Hi all, I need to move a 2gang plug socket 2ft horizontally across the wall. I will be keeping the old (metal) backbox and putting a blanking plate over the old socket. To extend the wiring (which is ring main), is it sufficient to use 2 x three pole levered connectors like this one from...

What to do with this side passageway?

In the end, I’ve decided not to proceed with this. We’ve decided to build a bigger shed in another part of our garden. I’d still be interested in seeing your final build if you do go ahead with this though!

The fence belongs to my neighbour.

What to do with this side passageway?

Hello all, We have pretty pathetic storage options for our garden paraphernalia and am looking at the idea of converting our spare side passageway (we have two) into some sort of storage area. Please see attached image. The gap is roughly 1.1m. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is...

How does the flow and return on this microbore manifold work?

Hi all, How does this manifold work with regards to feed and return? (see attached photo) Is the first half of the 22mm pipe all the feeds, and the second half of the pipe the returns? (marked by my red line). This plumbing is potentially from the 80s if that helps. My builder has added a new...

How to wire this plug socket?

Very nice- didn’t know such a thing existed. I’m certain the missus would never agree to it though!

How to wire this plug socket?

We did use LED strips indeed. But not along the edge of the glass- they were installed behind the cornice to avoid seeing them. I’m quite pleased with them!

How to wire this plug socket?

Yep- the splashback already has cutouts, and the socket plate comfortably fits over it without exposing any gaps. Our splashback is made of tempered glass.

How to wire this plug socket?

They did initially fit a 2G socket plate, but they took it off to allow that splashback to be installed. Shortly after, they decided not to show up because their new job had started and they hadn’t built any contingency into the time estimate they gave me.

How to wire this plug socket?

I do yes- I just grabbed the first pen to hand!

How to wire this plug socket?

Ah, I was under the impression that these wago connectors were end connectors and isolated the cables from each other? Or do these ones have a bus bar to connect them up?

How to wire this plug socket?

My builders have left me a half finished kitchen before doing a runner. One of the outstanding items is this plug socket. How do I wire it? I’m used to there being 2 sheathed cables - not 3. Thankfully they had the common sense to use a wago. Can I just wire all three, N, L and E wires into...

    Removing old UPVC French doors

Thank you- The entire unit consists of a door, window and a large pane of glass. I feel fairly confident in removing the door, but how do I remove the large pane of glass? There are no obvious places where it is being held in place.

    Removing old UPVC French doors

Evening all, In a few weeks I’ll be having new Bifold doors replacing our old UPVC French doors. To save a bit of money (£250), I told the installers that I will remove and dispose of the old doors myself. How do I go about deconstructing this thing (see image 1), so that it is ready for the...
