Need an external lighting PIR immune to flue exhaust

Might have to look at these again then. I thought it needed their own lights but it looks like any lighting would work

Need an external lighting PIR immune to flue exhaust

As the title says - I have GJD D-Tect PIRs for my DVR, which work brilliantly, but it seems that this only works with their own lighting system which seems over-the-top for me. Is there any similar working PIR that can work with any garden lighting, that will not be fooled by boiler flue steam...

Smoke alarm siting - 300mm "lighting"?

Hi, I have a ceiling light that has a wide "bar" to hold 4 GU10 bulbs, two either side of the ceiling rose, the total width of the light feature is about 1m. Keeping in mind the 300mm minimum distance of a smoke alarm from a light, does this mean the smoke alarm CANNOT be sited <300mm from...

Ethernet requirements for Ring Elite Doorbell

Exactly. You are spot on. Hence I don’t take their word for it that it needs four pairs to work. It might do, but their answer didn’t convince me 100% that they were sure.

Ethernet requirements for Ring Elite Doorbell

Hikvision IP cameras that I had only used two pairs, so I was able to use the remaining pairs for powering an external mic, thereby utilising the same cat5 cable by splitting the wires at the end. Anyway I am going to do it properly and install new cabling and terminate near the door

Ethernet requirements for Ring Elite Doorbell

Because I asked for an explanation to their answer and they said they don’t have that information, and they said that it came with a 50ft Ethernet cable and that cable must be used, not any other. If it MUST be used then how different is that to a regular cat5?!

Vaillant EcoTec Plus 831 - Heating flow temp remains at 50 degs

Bingo! Thank you so much - I have removed the controller (didn't know it comes off from the front) and replaced it with the blanking plate, and now the flame graph is higher near the middle and the flow temp is rising above 50 degs. Sorry, I removed the eBus before I had a chance to look at D9...

Ethernet requirements for Ring Elite Doorbell

Contacted them via Live Chat - the operator didn't know the answer first hand, but she came back after speaking to a technician and said to use all four pairs. Not taking their word for it however. It's not a problem feeding a another cable to the door, was just curious to know.

Ethernet requirements for Ring Elite Doorbell

Hi all, I'm planning on buying the Ring Elite for my new front extension project. I already have Cat5e to the front for my existing CCTV camera with PoE, so two pairs already used up from this one cable. I'm hoping that the Ring Elite only needs two pairs too, so I can use the remaining two...

Vaillant EcoTec Plus 831 - Heating flow temp remains at 50 degs

That's correct. I havent' had the time to remove the receiver with the holidays and all that - the outside temps are warmer now so it's not much of a problem right now. I'm putting it down to the size of our lounge/diner, as this seems to be the coldest area of the home. The receive is off, I...

Vaillant EcoTec Plus 831 - Heating flow temp remains at 50 degs

I actually didn't know that was a receiver! I do have the blanking plate too. I will probably do this anyway.

Vaillant EcoTec Plus 831 - Heating flow temp remains at 50 degs

This is what I have been told. You can see that the Hive is now connected to the RT via the 230v connection. The Hive does exactly what it should be doing, either demanding heating or not, it's just that I expected the boiler's "flame graph" to increase from the almost minimum setting, and...

Vaillant EcoTec Plus 831 - Heating flow temp remains at 50 degs

That's what I have on the boiler itself. The light is constant red. Used to be green when the remote VRT was used. This is now stored away with the red link cable that was attached to RT 24V. Just checked and the Option 90,91 and it says that a Digital Regulator is "Recognised" (90), DCF Status...

Vaillant EcoTec Plus 831 - Heating flow temp remains at 50 degs

If you look at the photos I attached earlier, you can see that the pink ebus connector has nothing connected to it. It didn't have anything connected to it before the Hive was installed either. The receiver light is red. I do recall an option in the Installer Level that the wireless control...

Vaillant EcoTec Plus 831 - Heating flow temp remains at 50 degs

Don't know. I took before and after photos when the installer installed the Hive unit.

Vaillant EcoTec Plus 831 - Heating flow temp remains at 50 degs

No. It wasn't wired to the boiler if that's what you mean. It was freestanding in the lounge and communicated to the boiler via wireless. Was considering having it wired to the boiler before we opted for Hive

Vaillant EcoTec Plus 831 - Heating flow temp remains at 50 degs

The only controls is the + and - buttons, as well as the Back and Cancel buttons. Forgot to mention that the left side of the display shows the flame burner graph, and it always stays way down below and never increases, almost at the minimum level. Cannot remember what level this was at when we...

Vaillant EcoTec Plus 831 - Heating flow temp remains at 50 degs

Hi, In an effort to raise temps to at least 20 degs in the home, I have increased the target flow from 75 to 80 degs with no success, and the actual "heating target flow temp" value remains at 50 degs. To give you an idea, from 11 degs it has taken so far 9 hours just to 15.5 degs. Have also...

Cannot register new app on Pyronix Cloud

Hi all, Had been using the Pyronix Cloud App for some time now on an iPhone 5s without any problems, until I upgraded to an iPhone 7s. I have installed the app on the new phone, and having set up the configuration I get a message to contact my system administrator before I could use the app...
