    Bath fluctuating hot water

Reporting back as we have now had the plate heat exchanger replaced and boiler is working great and bath hot water stays consistently hot now! Hurray! With the DHW setpoint at 55C I am getting the following readings: i6 9.6LPM-10.2LPM i9 64C-65C i11 54C-55CC i14 49C-50C Previously i9 which is...

    Benjamin Moore which white?

I don't have Super White to compare to but for what its worth I would agree that the coverage didn't seem great compared to other paints I have used in my limited experience being a DIYer. I did 1 coat of Zinsser Bullseye 123 and 2 coats of Chantilly Lace in the end. I have read some people...

    Bath fluctuating hot water

I did a test at with DHW setpoint at 45C and get the following readings: i6 9.2LPM i9 71C-72C i11 44C-45C i14 42-43.5C It doesn't reach the point where it cycles off with the setpoint at 45C.

Thanks for that I follow now. This boiler doesn't have a canoe filter. With the basin on hot the i16 reading for pump modulation was 100%. I also noticed on i2 which shows the last error it reports 277 E9 which is 'Safety sensor temperature exceeded 95°', so another data point that it is...

    Bath fluctuating hot water

When running the basin hot tap with DHW setpoint @ 55C I get the following: i9 (HEX flow temp) 68C i11 (DHW flow temp) 55C i14 (return temp to main HEX) 50C Should i14 not be lower than that as the difference between i9 and i14 is only 18C but the temp rise on the DHW is 36C (my mains cold is...

    Bath fluctuating hot water

Thank you both for the replies, appreciate it, this has certainly been a learning experience  ! Thermometer arrived and I have just done the temperature readings: DHW setpoint @55C the DHW actual was 55C and temp measured at basin as 53C DHW setpoint @45C the DHW actual reading at boiler...

    Bath fluctuating hot water

Yes it does seem that it is the plate HEX, my only doubt was the CH flow pipe getting hot. Yes we live in a hard water area. The system water is actually pretty clean now but it has been drained a few times since we moved in 2 years ago. The first time I drained it down it was pretty dirty...

    Bath fluctuating hot water

Also I wanted to ask how you calculated the dT for primary/DHW? I am interested to know what the HEX temp should when the bath mixer is on. At the moment it is going up to 88C to heat DHW of 9.6LPM @ 55C which seems too high as the manual says 86C is the max possible temp and for DHW it should...

    Bath fluctuating hot water

Morning! No we don't have anything like that in the house, just a single thermostat in the hallway and all rads come on when it comes on. So I ran the DHW on the basin and the CH flow pipe was warm but it was only on the first 3-4 inches are pipe, after that it wasn't warm. So obviously none of...

    Bath fluctuating hot water

Sorry didn't quite follow the above test. Which motorized valve are you referring to? When doing this test shall I do it with the bath mixer on or the basin? I have ordered a meat thermometer to come tomorrow to do the temperature test. Thanks again for all your help with this.

    Bath fluctuating hot water

With the bath mixer on hot but not fully open with the i6 reading showing 4.5LPM it is fine, it behaves like the basin, i9 at 67C-68C and i11 DHW stable at 54C-55C.

    Bath fluctuating hot water

OK so I did kitchen sink + bathroom basin and i9 and i11 temps were 80C-82C and 54C-55C. The issue didn't occur during a test duration of 2m30s. I also checked i6 which is the DHW flow rate in LPM and it was around 7.6LPM which is a bit lower than the bath mixer which usually shows around...

    Bath fluctuating hot water

With the basin hot on full the i9 HEX temp is stable around 67C-68C and the i11 DHW stable at 54C-55C. I can upload a video if required. Thanks for your help with this, really appreciate it!

    Bath fluctuating hot water

I have just retested and recorded a video of it: Start of video HEX 79C and DHW 50C For the next 1m30s the HEX temp slowly increases from 80C to 88C and the DHW from 50C to 55C At 1m 35s the boiler starts cycling off and on during which the DHW temp is jumping up and down by 5C steps...

    Bath fluctuating hot water

This is what I did previously in post #8 with the video on youtube. My wife is at the bath saying how the water feels but it may be difficult to hear. Here is how it goes: The water feels hot at the start of the video and then at 33secs in you can hear the boiler click off and the waters stop...

    Bath fluctuating hot water

So you want me to feel the water coming out of the bath filler compared with basin? Those readings of 67C and 90C are from option i9 on the service menu, which the manual says is 'the actual temperature from the main heat exchanger displayed in real time.' So they're not the DHW flow...

The DHW and CH are both set to 55degrees on the boiler. Should I try it lower than this?

    Bath fluctuating hot water

Sorry I am struggling to understand how the HW flow can be restricted if there is 9.6LPM from the bath, wouldn't this be a lot lower if it was being restricted? I was thinking the opposite, that the bath has the highest flow rate in the house and the boiler isn't able to heat that demand quick...

    Bath fluctuating hot water

I've measured the flow rate at various hot water outlets with hot on fully: Bath in main bathroom 9.6LPM Basin in main bathroom 4.6LPM Rain shower in main bathroom 6.6LPM Handheld shower wand in main bathroom 8LPM En-suite basin 9LPM Downstairs toilet 8.8LPM Kitchen sink 4.8LPM I haven't a...
