Internal solid wall insulation - What's best?

Thanks very much I'll have a read of that, after I put the post above I came across this website which seems to explain things pretty well: http://www.superhomes.org.uk/resources/internal-wall-insulation-1/ If I did go down with creating a frame, where they say about placing the kingspan on the...

Internal solid wall insulation - What's best?

Thanks everyone for your replies, has anyone found a sensible/effective way of attaching insulated plasterboards directly to the outside wall then skimming over, and having a vapour barrier in place? This although probably not being as effective as building a frame, would be quicker and cheaper...

Internal solid wall insulation - What's best?

Hi I'm renovating a terraced house which with the way it's built the downstairs is basically detached and all four walls aren't joining another house (only upstairs joins another house). The entire house needs plastering so I thought while I was at it, it would be best to insulate the living...

Potterton Performa 28 - pump or water pressure fault

Thanks for the reply yes I understand with regard to a heating engineer. To be honest I just wanted to have a go myself with the more straight forward things, and if I can't get it working I will call someone out, the house is top rent out so I would be getting a certificate for all the gas...

Potterton Performa 28 - pump or water pressure fault

Thanks for the reply, is the pump proving microswitch the flow microswitch? I can bleed the pump if it's possible to do that on this pump to start with

Potterton Performa 28 - pump or water pressure fault

Hi I've recently bought a repossessed house which was empty for 6 months and the boiler and water system were completely drained during that time. I've re filled the boiler and set it to the correct pressure, but it's coming up with a pump/water pressure fault which is a flashing red light by...

Vaillant Ecotec Pro 24, ho central heating and s.30 code

The external wiring goes to a control box for the salus wireless thermostat which I turned off, the salus was definitely faulty it came on when it felt like it and just caused problems so I bought the Timeswitch. I'll plug the Timeswitch back in with the link left in place :)

Vaillant Ecotec Pro 24, ho central heating and s.30 code

Yep definitely wireless, it was crap never worked right and from reading up Salus are known to be not that great, so it's strange how the Timeswitch worked without the link but it definitely used to, I'll plug it back in now the link is there and will see if it works :)

Vaillant Ecotec Pro 24, ho central heating and s.30 code

Hi yes a pro 24 with the timeswitch 140 fascia, I had a solus wireless thermostat installed which worked intermittently so I disconnected it and just pushed the timeswitch 140 into the boiler and it used to work fine. Should terminals 3 and 4 not have the wiring going to them if the...

Vaillant Ecotec Pro 24, ho central heating and s.30 code

It can't be incorrectly wired it just plugs straight in and it worked before so I'll take it that it's faulty then thanks

Vaillant Ecotec Pro 24, ho central heating and s.30 code

Well it's good news, the boiler works when linking 3 and 4 together! So does that just mean the timeswitch I had fitted is faulty? Thanks

Vaillant Ecotec Pro 24, ho central heating and s.30 code

Sorry I wasn't doubting your abilities in the slightest I just hoped someone who had specific knowledge of my boiler would be able to say yes those wires are definitely needed when a loop is made or no they're not that's all, I would be stuck without your advice so it's very much appreciated...

Vaillant Ecotec Pro 24, ho central heating and s.30 code

Sorry no when I mean specific experience I mean someone who has been through this before, I have read up on here of people advising about those terminals 3 and 4 from their own experience. I'll remove them and bridge 3/4 to see what happens, and yes you're right even if I fixed the boiler I...

Vaillant Ecotec Pro 24, ho central heating and s.30 code

I think that's a little harsh, I've opened the compartment without knowing it was sealed just to take a look, how else is it possible to test the terminals? I haven't guessed about the wiring by it's colour I just took and assumption that brown would be live and blue would be negative, and...

Vaillant Ecotec Pro 24, ho central heating and s.30 code

Ah I see,oh dear then!! I'm guessing it does just re seal, I'm going to get some new radiators fitted soon anyway so if I have to wait until then I can get them to fit the front again, surely it should just seal back up again anyway once put back on? All I know is people say to link points 3...

Vaillant Ecotec Pro 24, ho central heating and s.30 code

Hi thanks for the reply, surely removing the cover isn't a big deal, and engineer would remove it, and it's easy enough to put back on! How else would you test the terminals other than removing the front? Yes the loose wire is an earth wire which I'm guessing the installer didn't bother to...

Vaillant Ecotec Pro 24, ho central heating and s.30 code

Hi I'm having problems with my Vaillant Ecotec pro 24 boiler where the hot water works fine but the central heating doesn't come on. It hasn't been used in quite some time and when fired up the heating just won't come on, I had a radiator taken off the wall and put back on when some work was...
