Wicks dont do 1mtr...only 900mm or 1.2mtr according to website.
Can you look at my picture though. The center block is higher
than the ones either side which would leave a 2" gap above the...
So I should be ok with a 900 x 100mm deep x 65mm thick?
Once I have removed the throat lintel what should i use below it
thanks pistering...but...so with 150mm each side that would be a 99cm lintel. Is it ok to cut down a 1.2mtr lintel to say, 1mtr?

The current opening is 58cm wide to outside edges of fire inserts x 80cm high to top edge of throat...
With the square edge board you have to tape and then feather over a much larger area to hide the joints.
If I were you I would put up the board...
Have started to open out the fireplace to fit a small woodburner and it looks like this.
No sign of a lintel!!! Except for the throat lintel....
if you have this problem in future you would be better of using a wedge shaped vandal proof housing.
